Post: # 1050131Post SainterK »

Well a portion of it.

Kosi a chance (according to Ross) but I think Dave will win this round?

Love the way he looks at reporters asking questions

Just watched it on the Saints you tube channel. Im so happy Lyon is our coach. He will reach third on our 'games coached' list this year possibly second. I for one hope he is at St Kilda long enough to reach the top of that list.

Allan Jeans 332
Grant Thomas 123
Stan Alves 115
Ross Lyon 98

Looking at the above you would have to say Ross Lyon is the most effective coach we have ever had in terms of getting to grand finals versus games played? Even if you remove the replay.
Unsure who was coaching and for how long in 1913.
Long live the Lyon.

The fact that GT is second, and RL is third, says a lot of what stability contributes to success.

In their combined 213 games as head coach, we have made 6 finals series, 5 top 4, 5 prelims and 3 grand finals.

We've also won 2 preseason premierships. We've been one of the most attacking teams, and one of the most defensive teams. In Riewoldt, Hayes, Fisher, Goddard, montagna and Dal Santo, we've been blessed with some of the saints all time best.

Even without a premiership, these times are to be cherished.

It just boggles the mind that only three coaches in the club's history have coached over 100 games and RL becomes the fourth in round 2.

This is a golden era for the club and if we had won a flag it would have been our most successful era.

2 GFs and 1 replay.
We had some greats when those names first hit the scene - pity a few short years separated their best from the team under GT - Harvey, Gehrig, Jones, Hamill, and the twilight of Burke & Lowe. We've been blessed with players, but cursed for real success.

guessing this is the place for team news.

geelong look to be without chapman and ling.both are very underdone and their coaching staff are contemplating having them in the vfl this weekend if they don't feel they will be able to stand up in an AFl game.

byrnes and podsiadly are both definitely missing. source is the article on the afl website.

Chapman always plays well against us, Dal or Goddard should expect more freedom, Mooney is probably underdone and I'm not sold on Hawkins.

Boys MUST kick their fair share of midfielders goals, a lot of attention will be put into Roo with Taylor on him and Scarlett probably floating around most of the time given their is no Kosi to keep him accountable.

Yes it probably roughly evens out the injuries/suspensions

Good on you for not starting another thread for this - too easy for some....

Another opportunity awaits!
