why the hell would I want to upgrade my Foxtel to include Fox Sports, when they won't show a game live ? 11:00 pm- what's that for, all the people who work late at night? or who want to have Friday night drinks ? when I've had drinks on a Friday, its almost impossible to avoid some knob head yelling out the score...someone in my group will say loudly "Hey I wonder how St Kilda went tonight?" and some drunken buffoon nearby will call out the winning margin.

Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny, an unselfish woman- what do they all have in common? Answer- we would all like to believe they are true, but they are all fictional.

Foxtel aren't allowed to show the Friday night game live.
It's part of their contract not to show it until after the Ch7 telecast is completed.

Foxtel currently gets the rights to the games after the FTA channel shows them for the first time.

I'm hoping that the next rights is:

Friday Nights: Channel 7 (forced to go live) exclusive
Saturday Arvo: Channel 10 (delay) Fox (Live)
Saturday Night: Channel 10 (live) exclusive
Sunday Arvo: Channel 7 (delay) Fox (live)
All others: Live Fox.

Dont see the issue with not showing games live from Melbourne, into Melbourne.

I think the greater public has become confused. The issue was showing interstate games into Melbourne on delay.

If its in Melbourne, you can attend the game. Dont really care about the fairweather supporters insisting it should be live so they can sit back at home.

Whereas in fact Channel 7 telecast is so much "live" that I can walk from the Stadium at the end of the game, back to my car, get stuck in a traffic jam trying to get out of the car park, crawl along the Monash Freeway, make my way home to East of Bentleigh, arrive home about 11 15pm and still catch the last 10 minutes of the game.

And what really worries me about the upcoming rights negotiations is that last week Andrew Demetriou on SEN, when talking about the telecast of games live in Melbourne assured listeners that by the ned of the discussions, fans would be assured they would be watching the games quote "At the right time" He didn't say live into Melbourne, he said at the right time, so I gues it will continue to be the right time straight after "Better Homes and Gardens"

Foxtel do show Friday night games live interstate, one advantage my brother has in Sydney to me in Melbourne.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Here in WA the delay was to start 1 hour after the game had finished the Foxtel telecast finished midway thorugh the final quarter of Sevens. Not good enough !!!
