Time for Roo to step down as Captain
Firstly, Roo is my favourite player and will continue to be so in 2011 given how talented he is.
People from outside our club know he's a champion, but think he's a little soft.
I've always come to his defence on this issue, but the latest scandal showed he doesn't have the balls to be captain material IMO.
The sooking is not called for. He stuffed up by posing nude in front a team-mate.
There is no point in whinging when the laptop is stolen and pics go viral.
As Captain, you shouldn't compromise yourself in the first place.
Had Rooey copped it on the chin and admitted he ultimately was at fault, then he, in my opinion, would be doing the best he could given the circumstances.
But he didn't, he had a sook and showed an inability to say "I was wrong".
Now, I am the last one on this forum to go Nancy and all PC, but this not my point.
The only way out now for Roo is to help us win a flag, nothing else will restore his previous image.
Let him focus on pure footy, without the pressure of captaincy.
Perhaps BJ should be captain, given that Lenny has got himself in the media for the wrong reasons also.
Thoughts???

i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Strongly disagree with this notion.
I believe Rooey to be telling the truth and the fault here lies originally with Sam Gilbert, not Rooey.
Can he not be naked in his own hotel room without fearing someone will photograph him and not delete the photos on request.
It's not like he was dancing naked on a hotel balcony for the paparazzi.
I reject your call for his removal as captain.

If anything Gilbert should be given his marching orders. He was the idiot not Riewoldt
Another opportunity awaits!

He may have.saintspremiers wrote:weakness it what respect?HSVKing wrote:Just the sort of thing that would show weakness.
Ridiculous idea.
So can I ask you this, did Roo F*** up or not at any stage???
But succumbing to all the pressure and everything would show weakness in his beliefs and the strength of the club.
Some people are too reactionary. Fight through it and hold strong!
They walk amongst us...
Other than grabbing Gilbert's phone and deleting the photo himself, what else could he have done?saintspremiers wrote:weakness it what respect?HSVKing wrote:Just the sort of thing that would show weakness.

I can't see where any 'F*** up' can be attributed to Roo.
Huge breach of trust by his mate though. Huge.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

its slightly off where this thread is heading, but do the majority of us agree that the time for Goddard to have some form of captaincy is now?
personally i believe so (regardless of recent events)
but i also feel that Hayes and Roo are deserving to.
what would everyone think of a shared role again?

Hayes VC Goddard VC

No way, I am proud to have him as our captain and do not expect him to stand down because a part of his anatomy was exposed in a photo and stolen by a tramp.
For goodness sake nobody minded or cared when he posed almost naked in the Linen House picture !! The real issue is the theft of private property not the exposure of some.

I hate that opposition supporters can come on here and see with thread titles like this one that we're turning on our own in a time when they need our support the most. Disappointing.
