Melbourne Cup omen bets
There are a number of factors here.
1. Name
Only one real contender here. Linton in honour of our soon to be former home ground and training base.
2. Colours
I'm not sure if they're all confirmed but the only one I can see in the right colors is Maluckyday
3. Trainer
Clutching at straws here but there are a few Cummings' horses. Possibly related to Steve Cummings who played in the early '90's. But I'd go with Harris Tweed who is trained by Murray and Bjorn Baker. Surely Steven Baker has got a Bjorn in the family somewhere.
4. Jockey
Lots of options here. Kerrin "Ben" McEvoy, Damien "Chris" Oliver, Craig Williams who I think played with us in the late 70's, Blake Shinn which sounds like it describes many of the Blake's kicks, but you really have to go for Buccellati ridden by Steven King. Unless it really is our Steven King in which case you might get your money back in the sweeps.
Any others? Don't forget, the more you bet the more you win.

Re: Melbourne Cup omen bets
Craig Williams – now there’s a name. Was quite a fan back in my earlier days. From memory we got him from VFA side Prahran. Tall bloke who played at CHF. Wore his socks down which was a bit rare back then.kosifantutti23 wrote:...Craig Williams who I think played with us in the late 70's, ......
First time I ever wrote to a coach, Mike Patterson I think, as I was concerned they were going to get rid of him at the end of the season. MP never replied and they did give him the boot.
Of course I was young and naïve back in those days and didn’t know what I was talking about.
Now I’m much older and more mature – and still don’t know what I’m talking about.

I have doubts that So You Think will run out the distance. Seemed to walk across the line in the Caufield Cup. Sure, he was lengths infront, but there's just no guarentee that he can go the distance.Beno88 wrote:If you're betting on anything other than So You Think, make sure it's a place bet.
He has to run an extra 800m this time, and I don't think he is past the post yet.
Haven't decided who I will bet on, but atm I like:
-Shocking
-Manighar
-Americain
-Descarado

I know Simon O'Donnell has also got some runners but really he's got his fingers in more horses than the Lone Ranger

It just looked a bit faded in the Herald Sun. It seems that going on colors we should be looking at Profound Beauty or more likely Precedence.IluvHarvey wrote:What White, Pink and Grey????kosifantutti23 wrote:There are a number of factors here.

The omen bet is So You Think....
Jnr had his first bet when he turned 18 the year that Viewed won...
He said to me that Viewed's jockey is going to wear the same colours as Saintly....
(he remembers these things) and sure enough he won and won a handsome sum with his first ever bet.
Go for the same colours when Saintly won, and that is So You Think!!!!

Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
