Not enough to compensate the value we would lose around the ground and kicking inside forward 50.

we have plenty of others who can pump it forward.

Pump it forward, I have no doubt of that.
How many do we have who can actually deliver the ball lace out?

Goddard stays where he is imo

Nowhere NOWHERE near good enough as Goddards kicks.

He, in my opinion, is the most accurate long kick in the AFL. Punishing long kicks to men running.

He can't and should not play forward because we lose the best long kicker in this game.

Well Ill answer the question.
About 65-70 goals in a full H&A season in the forward line.
And only about 30 behinds

yeah he is a brilliant kick,
but with how poor our forward line works at times.
an athlete like Goddard up there would create headaches as a match up.
when Nicky Dal is up and about he delivers it beautifully
same as Gwilty

Gwilt has just about established himself as our best defender, we all know he is a great kick, but how many times would he be kicking inside 50?

Inside 50s seaons 2010:
Goddard: 97
Dal: 88
Gwilt: 46

Take Goddard out of it and we'll struggle.

Goddard, DAL and Gwilt would be our best deliverers of the ball.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a forward who thought his job was to kick goals???!!!

ill be honest and say i would rather have the arthritic hands of the big G-train out their with his inability to chase and tackle out there
then have Kosi.

you could at least have faith that G would kick you 4 goals
and if he didnt, he wouldnt knock out Roo
and he would put the fear of god into the oppostion.
he could also kick straight.

Goddard as a full time forward and matched up to a top line defender would average maybe 3 goals a match ?

Playing his current role -
He can kick a goal a match anyway by sneaking forward and also sets up goals indirectly - so he probably generates 3 goals anyway - plus he also stops 2 or 3 goals down back ... and when he has it 30 times in the midfield the opposition don't... so they don't generate as many goals.

so more value in his current role... probably worth 5 - 8 goals every week(directly/indirectly) to us in his current role.

heaps. but hes one of few blokes who actually delivers it inside 50 with any accuracy and purpose. most of our blokes just bomb away.

We need line-breaking ball carriers who pump the ball long and can slot a goal or two, and the only effective ones we have are Goddard and Gram (when un-injured). We need one more attacking half back flanker though. Goddard should not be played at full forward. We need to recruit a full forward, or at least develop one.

We need someone who can get on the end of the Goddard kick. Other than Roo running back into the F50.

I have been thinking about this too.
It is a bit like Geelong was when Ablett v1.0 played - could play anywhere - but they still could not win one. Even with a centreline that delivered it to him at FF.
He could kick 90+ but would it help us much more? I do not think so.

Our score assist leader was Schneider. He's out. Goddard was second and we're moving him to FF. Mini was third and we're dropping him.

I suspect the goals will just manufacture themselves.

Mini is crap. He never wins his own ball and struggles to kick 1 goal every 3-4 weeks. A complete liability to the team.
