Muckrakers at the Hun
Robert Walls just alleged (without naming them of course) that the Herald Sun have employed 2 "journos" with the specific task of looking for footy scandals. If there's a shred of truth to it, pretty disgraceful.

The Herald-Sun is a "Pictorial".
A "Tabloid".
This means it is scum sheet aimed at uneducated bogans.
It is pitched at about the Collingwood CS mentality.
It gives their low-life readers the sort of low-life articles they want.
Won't be long before they go down the entrapment path like the British tabloids.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

hutchy doesn't work for the hun, he's freelance. and robbo isn't an age writer, he's the mainstay of the hun's football coverage.walski wrote:Who was he implying
Hutchy and ?
Bloody hell if poor Robert has just realised this then well I dont know....
Age vs Herald Sun beat up ill bet - Just as bad as each other nowadays in my opinion...
Wasn't it Robbo who is a age writer that brought up last week curfuffle?
there's no doubt a difference between the two papers. caro and connolly at the age dig up stories but they're usually not as immediately interesting as the trash the hun throws out. i can understand why they keep doing it - but i don't have to respect the journos involved.
So % say 30% of our members are uneducated bogans. A lot of people would rather just read a paper that is easier to read, that doesnt make then uneducated bogans.Enrico_Misso wrote:The Herald-Sun is a "Pictorial".

You don't have to be a bogan to read the Herald Sun all you need to do is look at the picturesplugger66 wrote:So % say 30% of our members are uneducated bogans. There is no shame in being an uneducated bogun... and as footy is one of their greatest passions, I'd say they make up much more than 30% of any club's membership.plugger66 wrote:So % say 30% of our members are uneducated bogans. The hun is designed so it can be read in it's entirety during the average morning smoko or crap.
The inference I drew from what Walls said was that there aren't two journos employed full time to dig for dirt, just two people on staff at the Feral Scum, scouring Facebook and taking tipoffs about after hours activities.
Lowest common denominator journalism. Who's surprised?
It's the same story with Today Tonight and Current Affair. They see it as their responsibility to their viewers!

The Hun, of course, is a great supporter of the Filth (for those that don't know, that's the Collingwood Football Club) where they have recently stated in a Court Case that Filth reporting sells papers. So you will always find a promotional artical on the Filth in the Hun, one, two or more pages of Filth reporting.
In the recent low type "sex scandle" by Mark Robinson targeting the St.KFC in large headline with the Club crest, it was very interesting to note that a player from "another Club" was implicated in that report but not mentioned - that Club is alledged to be Collingwood.
It's not a level playing field when it comes to football reporting in the Herald Sun.

That makes good sense. A Sun(before it hooked up with The Herald) employee told me forty years ago that if circulation was down, they would put a story in about the Filth and bingo, double the circulation overnight. It seems that they can get a similar result these days by printing something derogatory about the Saints. Why are we such a target?Go Sainters Go wrote:Buy the Age because they support our Club.saint75 wrote:Easy solution - don't read the Herald Sun! I think Robbo had a crack at us today, after the AFL ticked off on St Kildas books during the Wadren time he said "a lot of questions were unanswered".
The AFL have said everything is OK you Knob Head they don't need to explain it to you.
Wake me up when September ends.

I'm a bit cynical about this as Walls works for a rival media firm. Him not naming the reporters involved does nothing for the credibility of his claims.
In any case, can you blame the Hun for jumping on a football scandal of any sort?
With all of Victoria talking about it, they wouldn't be doing their job of reporting the news and trying to sell newspapers if they didn't.
