Simpkin Ends Strike
Finally we see Tom Simpkin named in the Sandringham reserves team.
Simpkin has missed the entire season so far but according to the St Kilda club website was not injured.
Speculation is that he was on strike because he had not been promoted to the senior list.
Welcome back Tom.

he's a tall kid on the fringes of the sandy side in his second year on the list. has played a nab cup game so they obviously see something in him. will take time to develop as all kids do, and is hurt by the fact that we have a lot of fringe talls at the moment. stanley, mcevoy, gaertner, pattison, walsh, archer, lynch, johnson, simpkin - j smith and winmar almost there as well. and of course sautner at sandy, when he's on the park.
give him some time to prove one way or the other.
Around the corner from where I live.
Will probably get down there for a look.

Lance or James??

Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
I know Cahill is a devoloping tall, but we have many... why hold onto him if he is just developing and we have others.. Why clog the list.
I think he will be in trouble to hold his spot on the list if he doesnt break into the team. He is now in the sandy reserves, thats a long way from the SAINTS
I dont want to talk about delistings, but isnt he the obvious choice considering it is his 2nd year on list, is now in sandy reserves and shows little to say why he should be retained.
Have a look at our list, who else would you prefer to get rid of instead of him?
He is my first gone IMO

Carn Saints
nah, that's only when you're playing a non-afl-aligned side, which are:Red wrote:You can only have 12 Saints players in the senior team in any game.
frankston
port melbourne
gold coast (maybe?)
not sure if north ballarat and werribee also fall into that category. willie are aligned with footscray so it's definitely not them - we can have as many as we want.

He's also named as one of the interchange players for the seniors.GrumpyOne wrote:So why is he number 13?Red wrote:You can only have 12 Saints players in the senior team in any game.
Let's not just assume because he's been named at CHF in the Reserves that he will actually play in that team - just as I won't assume Blakey will play at CHF for the Saints on Saturday night just because he's named there!

I would have thought that Jarryd Allen is first cab off the rank to be delisted at year's end, closely followed by Leigh Fisher?Batnoe wrote:I know Cahill is a devoloping tall, but we have many... why hold onto him if he is just developing and we have others.. Why clog the list.

Problem is Archer is a first year rookie listed player, Pattison back up following the humiliation of being delisted from the worst list since Fitzroy, Lynch being injured and not named, Simpkin returning from injury through the scoobs, and Jesse Smith and Winmar not playing either.bergholt wrote:crap comment.bobmurray wrote:Why has Cahill been dropped to the magoos..is he crap...is he a list clogger

Why do people get so defensive about certain players. Can you not look at the TV or live games and make reasonable judgements on players without a huge chip on the shoulder? These same arguments have been made through the years about the likes of Schwartze, Moyle, Knowles, and so on. He'll have his chance, but he'd probably want to get moving from the Seniors. If he shows enough, he'll get a third year. But a third year has to be it.
