SAINTS STAND FIRM -NO BALL DEAL- BRILLIANT
It's far far better for the club to have stood firm against Collingwood's crap offer, than to give in and take rubbish for Luke ball.
Luke can go to freeo and spend a few years thinking about how not to try to squeeze our club to do a deal that worked for him , collingwood , Conners , but not for Stkilda.
This time we lost pick 30. But what we gained is far more valuable, and that is the message to the players, and to other clubs, that if you want to trade with us, it has to be a fair offer - so don't just nominate a club and think we will get desperate and take anything .

but don't you realise Collignwood are a threat...
By giving Ball to the pies for a 2nd or 3rd rounder we would be greatly strengthening one of our opponents whilst weakening our own team...
At Least Ball can't hurt us if he goes to Melbourne...
Or better yet, he may decide to stay!!

No. not for nothing.Saintersss wrote:Yeah, but we also just lost a top player for nothing. Sure Collingwood got nothing, but we LOST something.
He rejected our offer.
If he goes into the draft, and we get no pick in exchange, so be it. If we become known as a folder that can be outbluffed, it will happen every year.
Key players will not take reductions to keep the team together, if they know our club will give in at the last minute and let them go where they want, .
You have to look beyong the immediate.
if he decides to re-sign with the club then I back the club to work with him for the good of the team.
This has made my week. We picked up a quick backman, a quick and skilled midfielder, helped xavier get to a club he wanted (which showed that we will do the right thing if you do the right thing and the other club will play ball) and stopped collingwood for picking up ball for free.
nice work drain and ross

I love how Ross thanked Essendon and Freo and their management for deal so fairly with the Saints.....
It was heavily meant to contrast with Collingwood and Connors and the fact that they have royally fked Luke Ball and made him look like a fool and laughing stock.
Connors is a disgrace and Luke Ball should sack him.

Lance or James??

Disappointed Ball didn't get there. Said they just couldn't get a deal done with the PIes
really want him to stay now..if he walks out and goes to the PSD then our trade week is well in the negative IMO
