Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Happy Days.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

I can hear their supporters shouting kick it Long.degruch wrote:They do have a point though...who's their star spangled midfield gonna kick to now? Fisher? Warnock?? Betts???
But I don't think they have a guy called Long on their list.

I can't believe he hasn't been getting more heat in the media anyway. Ratten was a great player but as a coach I am unconvinced.markp wrote:When they miss the finals next year Ratten will be gawn... and they will be in a tailspin. Joy.
Same category as Knights and Bailey. Have proved nothing yet.

Didnt we make it clear we would pick up a ruckman with the first pick?Animal Enclosure wrote:The bloke we would have drafted if Brisbane hadn't got in first!Moccha wrote:who is Lachie Henderson????????
So we took McEvoy.
Very talented CHF/CHB... His body is still filling out & Brissie had been playing him as a flanker. Not a bad get by the cheats.

It is agood deal for Blues IMO given that they had decisded to offload the Fev.
Remember that Fev had a HUGE salary...and that Lions evidently are now paying all of his contract.

I posted this on the "Fev to Lions" thread, but it seems appropriate here too:
Do those who are bagging this deal even know who Henderson is? The wraps on him are very big (like his body) and he's already played 18 games, despite getting injured this year and only being 19. He was picked in the top 10 a couple of years ago and looks the goods. Not many as big as him play 18 games before they turn 20, especially when they also miss through injury. I reckon Carlton would be very happy.

Henderson was taken with pick 8 in the draft Ben McEvoy went at 9. Saying this is a "dud" trade would be like if we traded McEvoy to someone and their more ignorant fans (who hadn't heard of McEvoy) said their club had picked up a "dud", simply because they hadn't heard of him/much about him. Very few big blokes (who play key forward, especially) make a big impact in the AFL unless they're taken top 10, as Henderson was.
With Bradshaw being on his "last legs" I'd much rather have Henderson, who has been described as being similar to J Brown and Pavlich, and pick 12, than Bradshaw and Richetelli, at least for the long term. Carlton obviously agreed, which is why they threw in pick 27 as well. Long term, this will be much better, unless something unexpected happens. For next year, Brisbane look the clear "winners".

The thing is he is a speculative pick up....does not have runs on the board as yet and nothing to really hang his hat on. He MAY develop nicely, and he may not. Pick 12...who knows?AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:I posted this on the "Fev to Lions" thread, but it seems appropriate here too:Moccha wrote:who is Lachie Henderson????????

So who do the Blues kick to next year. Kruezer is a ruckman...not a forward. I don't think Carlton could be very happy with the deal...they have lost 80-100 goals out of this, and there isn't anything to suggest there is another avenue to getting them back.
