Where does this leave Ball?
So it's been an interesting few days... I didn't see the Xavier Clarke trade coming at all. A few of the other big names (Burgoyne, Lovett, etc) have already been traded, which limits any Ball trade options.
So what is the most likely scenario at this point? Ball still a chance at the Pies with a last minute deal (D. Thomas <-> L. Ball)... will another club step in at the last minute... will he go into the PSD... will he stay?
What is the general consensus?

Is Collingwood the only option for Ball? I know he's nominated them as his "preferred" club, but I haven't heard anything about any other clubs sniffing around other than the Demons hoping to get him for free in the PSD.

Unfortunately and I hope I am wrong but the Ball situation is
panning out exactly as I thought.
We either take an inadequate offer from the pies ie a 2nd round pick
and/or some dud players or he goes through to the PSD.
My gut feeling is we should let him go through to the PSD knowing
he has paid his last final game of his career and not gifting the pies
a great deal.
However I suspect when crunch comes to crunchy we are just going
to take the crappy deal rather than get nothing.

I'd say much as a few other players, ball's been painted into a corner by a big mouth and greedy manager who wants 20% of more than 250k.
now he's screwed himself, and his player.
Its not the first time a greedy manager has screwed up his players career.
Trust me luke....
'sources close to luke" a 'family friend close to luke"
you only have to watch him play that he gave his all to the club on GF day, and before, his closeness to the other players.
I reckon connors just got into him and he is still young 'your worth more than this", "trust me, i'll get you 500k" etc etc.

They just said on SEN that Conners believes the talks between Stk and Collingwood are extremely positive and that both parties are confident that a deal will be done.
We are obviously holding out for a 'quality' player but as we know from Collingwood, they always rate their players much higher than anyone else does.

Seems that for a supposedly clever man, Ball has acted quite dumbly through all of this...
seems that for a man of the kind of principles and character we were all led to believe, over the past few years that he had...he sold us a pup and sold out to mammon...
In the end, he makes the final decision, no matter what his family or agent suggest...he is responsible...
Send him to Melbourne...unless we get a fair and worthwhile trade....stuff C'wood...by the time the demon's young talent are all firing and they are a genuine finals threat...Ball will be long finished.

From Rumors going around and alot of talk on radio i am expecting tommorow around midday we will see luke ball traded to the pies for 2nd round draft pick and either nathan brown (pies variety, not the one legged one), tyson goldsack or at best steele sidebottom, most likely goldsack. goldSACK for Ball interesting trade!!boneless23 wrote:They just said on SEN that Conners believes the talks between Stk and Collingwood are extremely positive and that both parties are confident that a deal will be done.

What is Goldsack like? Wasn't he dropped before the finals?

collingwood have shafted him - greedy bastards didn't learn from the stevens fiasco. if they approached his manager and it's influenced his decision, then they are obligated to do the right thing and ensure a fair trade so that he doesn't go into the psd.
we'll see what happens.
