Gardy...
Seriously.
This guy has cost us nothing apart from a spot on the list and a little faith.
How good is he now that he can string some games together.
I've said from the start that he "could be anything".
Dont discount his value. Absolutely stoked with his output.
And full credit to the guy.

"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

He is actually a dominant ruckman - has good skills as well. Very good with the footy and his confidence is climbing with each outing. Pulled down a big mark last nite in a pack - thought it was Kosi at first!! He is rucking superbly and is aggressive with his body use.
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

he was a no 1 draft pick.....all he needed was a good run with injuries and someone to have a little faith in him.....credit to him and ross......

I can only go on what I've seen, mainly our games. But, based on that, he is one kilometre ahead of the next best ruckman in the AFL at the moment. Better than Cox in tap outs, more mobile than Sandilands around the ground, kicks more goals from pushing forward than Kreuzer (only Jolly has kicked more). Easily AA form - repeat, at the moment. Of course, the work of King is not to be ignored in this.

Really happy to say I was wrong and eat humble pie about Gardy.
I was sure he was finished and taking up space on our list for no good reason. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. He's getting better and better.
Last night there were three incidents that really stood out for me.
1. His sublime tap to a running Lenny in the last who then drilled it to Roo for a major. Gardy was fending the Filth ruckman off with one hand whilst he hit a running Lenny on the chest. Beautiful
2. That big tall contested mark he took, also in the last I think. His physical presence was awesome.
3. At one of the centre bounces I noticed that he actually had a leap. With so many problems over the years with his feet and lower legs I didn't think I'd ever see him getting off the ground with a spring in his step. But there he was jumping high to win a tap.
So pleased to be so wrong about him. What a difference having a big, physical winning ruckman makes. Go you good thing.

Though most will disagree ,I had him in my votes last nite.Reckon he was great early when it was there to be won,big hard bodyin the centre getting first hands on the ball, all round ground marking ,running ,boundary throw ins first class.Bonus being able to give B Mcevoy good game time when we had it in the bag
Anyone else get the impression that J.Fraser didnt want to know about him

there was no case for Gardy to be kept at the end of last season if you were from the outside looking in, but RL kept him when most said he was gone and kudos to him for a great start to the year.
A great ruckman and he and King will be of great help to not only the on field cause, but also the development of big mac in the future.

Yeah I gave him a vote as well. The best game I've seen him play for us so far.bergsone wrote:Though most will disagree ,I had him in my votes last nite.Reckon he was great early when it was there to be won,big hard bodyin the centre getting first hands on the ball, all round ground marking ,running ,boundary throw ins first class.Bonus being able to give B Mcevoy good game time when we had it in the bag

I dont care what he does. As long as it does NOT damage the club or have any direct consequence on the team as it stands. Players are still people and they are free to make whatever choices they want.
I think you know what I mean.
