Steven Gaertner?

Post: # 734517Post F_Q_F »

Just wondering how Steven Gaertner is doing.

Remember hearing talk pre-draft that this kid could develop into something special if he improved his disposal.

Few people saying that he is a freak athlete but lacked the footy smarts to make full use of his ability.

Looks to be an ideal rookie selection though, high risk but potentially high reward.

Anyone fill me in on how he is progressing?

Cheers

spoke to a close relative who said he toweled up Gram in an intraclub practice match! Also said Ross Lyon was calling him "Goodes" as that was the style in which he was playing.

On a side note, he said the family was rapt wit the Saints and Ross Lyon in particular; I thought that was great to hear.

Has been in the best at Sandy reserves a few times that I have seen.

The ultimate project player.

Could be absolutely wonderful - or might be better suited to the decathalon.

Hard to tell.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Call me silly, but I got a hunch about this kid after seeing his Youtube footage. I'm keeping an eye out for him too.

I think he became injured during the pre-season....so is only kicking off now???

Still he was always picked to be turned int a player...so is for the future.

I think Gaertner is the perfect example of what the rookie list was first introduced for - an athlete first, a footballer second. Having said that, he was a pretty handy player at U/18 level, so we know there is a lot of ability there! I really hope he develops into a solid player for us! As someone said before, minimal risk (only a rookie spot and minimum wage) with massive POTENTIAL upside. I really hope he makes it!

Go get 'em Stevie G!

That wasnt the same Intra-club match that Grammy only played the first 5 mins of before going off with hammy soreness was it? I seem to remember that he spent most of that 5 mins with the ball on a string 8-)
