The "I was Wrong" Thread

Post: # 722667Post joffaboy »

OK time to fess up.

What have you been wrong about in the first month of this season.

Time for the mea culpa's to arise.

I'll start off with a couple.

I WAS WRONG.

I stated that our game plan was total crap and that we were going to be playing ring around a rosy and we were looking more and more like a boring version of Sydney.

Well after three games I couldn't have been more wrong. We have a strong defensive game plan - but it is an ATTACKING defence (if you know what I mean). Our tackling and pressure is superb and it is almost as enjoyable as our attack - which has been run on and play on at all times.

I WAS WRONG

I stated that the rushed behind rule was no good and was rushed (pun intended) in. Well I think it has worked very well and has lead to a more attacking game generally.

C'mon time to come clean. :D :D

Lance or James??

nuthing
im always right...
oh wait.....thats someone else

2 years ago i thought BJ was no good and couldnt believe he was #1.
seriously thought he was no good....he always had clangers and seemed just to not be able to get a break.

i also thought Ross Lyon wouldnt be a good coach basically because i hadnt heard much about him previously.

i also said geelong would at least equal the brisbane era of 3 in a row

Looks Like I have to say I was wrong about RL. I wouldnt have cared to see him sacked at one stage, and I couldnt see much changing this year.

That being said, Im very wary that we are only in R3, and we havent played anyone I would consider top 6 material yet.

I was wrong that CJ would step up another level, thought that he had hit his peak

I was wrong that lyon would never play BJ at full forward.

I was wrong when I thought it could not get better at half time (final quarter wasjust as fun)

I was wrong for thinking that the footy public perhaps weren't complete morons.

They are.

Some of the things I'm reading and hearing after 3 rounds of footy is simply astounding.

yes, I wrong on CJ....

I was dissapointed we didn't recruit ben cousins, but accepted the club's decision.

I would like to see some of the poster that bagged the club big time after we pulled out of that deal come here and state they were wrong.....

I think not recruiting cousins got us out of the messiah complex, and was a factor that got the players to dig in deep within themselves and lift their performance...i.e. we had to produce the big improvement from within the club, and now hope for some external messiah to do it for us.

ooh me me me
I WAS WRONG.
I always believed RL was a good tactician coach, and I believed in his defensive game plan approach.
I knew we had the players for an attacking forward line but we had problems when we didnt have the ball and our on-ballers clearly didnt work hard enough. I believed they were lazy and perhaps didnt have the required grey matter to cope with the "new game plan". They played to create stoppages rather than create pressure turnovers. With the zone, our on-ballers stood like witches hats defending space and didnt know when to close-in to cause doubt and panic in the opposition.

NOW...

I WAS WRONG to stick with that shite gameplan for the last 2 years, look at the difference one small, simple and logical change makes

He's not enjoying it that's for sure. More interested in the status of his little internet persona than enjoying the impressive way we've started the season. Sad.

Perhaps he likes to blame the Saints for other deficiencies in his life..... there's always Viagra rodge.

Fox report will say 'wow what a win... blah blah blah... only round 3 though folks, so please do not enjoy yourself until I give you permission... blah blah blah... finally the coach is getting out of the way and letting them play the way god (and/or GT) intended....'

So everyone just settle down and stop enjoying yourselves.

I want to hear your thoughts on the players not taking to rossys game plan, the fact that we are reliant on one player and one player only and all other verbal diarrhea you spew out.

you sir are a Class A....

A bit harsh Roger, would you at least concede that we are playing with a bit more aggression and Hunger?
