someone who sat the Lockett end for the game said he was just Laughing at Hunter for most of the game
noted it on the replay during the second quarter-- every time Hunter bumped him he just smiled back ,

yeah, he appears pretty laid back, good to see. I really hope he bulks up over the next couple of years, seems like he fits in well with our defence and will benefit from another year or two under SOS.saintbrat wrote:someone who sat the Lockett end for the game said he was just Laughing at Hunter for most of the game

Apparently Dawson actually came to Hawthorn as a forward, believe it or not. Didn't look like it from that shot at goal, but at least it went through the sticks. Impressed with the young fellas attack at the footy though - at the very least he will be a great back-up for Maxy.
Please...let's win a Premiership before GEELONG!!!! (O.k., so we've missed that opportunity...maybe let's win the next one before Geelong????)

Does it what, I am loving the fact we are above them and that we are the only team that is stopping them from being topSaintDebi wrote: (BTW, Wallbanger: just noticed your sig. Love it. Doesn't it feel REAL GOOD to be above the Cats on the ladder for a bit?)

i think it was only 8 guys....
and vfl to afl = big difference.
lets just focus on zac getting 12-16 games this year in defence. hes only young and is getting better all the time. still has some work to do in the gym.
could end up a good defender and play 100 games for the saints down back with the occasional throw up forward.

Did not have a good game......his opponents took 4 uncontested marks inside 35m....
Yep. Hate to rain on the parade but he wasn't too flash last week either.
Agree, and I could be wrong in my observations and generlization here, but he seemed to have a more closer knit support and assistance from fellow backs when he went near the ball with knucklehead BBB Hall in his opening match, and has appeared a little looser one-on-one a few times since. I'm sure SOS will be working on that....he's in great hands there!
But he's going pretty well and given full support and encouragement can only continue to improve
A very promising acquisition!

In my typical fashion I am waiting to see if he shows anything that can be a pointer to his future value.
That is not to say he should be out of the side jsut yet. Against WC he wwould receive just a pass mark, probably due to our total dominance.
RL must see something in him that is not evident to us at present.

Sheesh there are some hard markers on here.
Just watched the replay again and one of the things I noted was how much praise the commentators were giving McKenzie for his game on Roo, yet Roo had 25/26 disposals? Did McKenzie do any better relatively than Dawson?
Last week Kozi had a good game on Rutten (AA full back) - he took multiple marks (contested and uncontested) and yet I didn't read/see/hear anybody saying he (Rutten) had a 'poor game'?
Dawson is not Max. Max has played over 200 games of VFL/AFL footy - Dawson is a relative newbie (13 games?) and yet he is expected by some to perform as well as Max or Scarlett or Glass, or Rutten?
BTW, was Glass' game better than Dawson on Saturday? How effective was he in stopping our Forwards?
And for those with short memories, didn't Neitz towel up Max in the last couple of games they played on each other?
I for one am very satisfied in what Dawson's given us in his first 3 games for the Saints. Much better than I would have anticipated.
