NAB Cup v Brisbane - Squad
Here's the squad, which I've had a crack at putting into a conventional team line-up. Three players to be omitted, two to be named substitutes.
B S Fisher Maguire Begley
HB Ray Blake R Clarke
C Dal Santo Ball Eddy
HF Gilbert Koschitzke Jones
F Milne McEvoy Steven
Foll King Goddard Montagna
Int Gardiner L Fisher McQualter Gwilt Geary Dawson
Sub Heyne Miles
Em Connors Howard Simpkin
Not playing: Gram, X Clarke, Hayes, Hudghton, Baker, Riewoldt, Schneider, Armitage, Dempster, Stanley, Lynch, Allen, Smith, Cahill, Haretuku, McGrath, Gaertner, Tungatulum, McGarry.
I think we'll win, some talent and some youth - it'll be interesting to see how we go.

I must stress that the positions are my attempt at putting them into a team, but the last time I did that Glenn McFarlane pinched them for his Herald-Sun article about Banger's first game. St Kilda just name 29 players, of which three will be omitted, and two will be named as substitutes.
Goddard playing in the guts is my gut (pun intended) feeeling.

Did the Herald Sun exist when Banger played his first game??GrumpyOne wrote:Took you a long while to forgive him thenThePunter wrote:I must stress that the positions are my attempt at putting them into a team, but the last time I did that Glenn McFarlane pinched them for his Herald-Sun article about Banger's first game.

The McFarlane story appeared last year. He went out and found (almost) everyone who played with Banger in his first game. But rather than look through the old copies of the Sun they must have at Southbank, he googled it, found my attempt at putting the team together (I had the 20 from stats.rleague.com) and worked off that.
Armitage has a little hammy twinge, as does Gram.

Anyone know why Armo isn't named?
From what I've gathered over the off-season news, and knowing the conservative nature of our fitness staff, I think that if Bally is anything other than 100% ready for full-contact match work, he will not play.
Know anything to the contrary - or are you just being a smart-arse par the course?

Well he has hardly missed a training session and he is named so I wouldnt see why he wouldnt play.Quixote wrote:plugger66 wrote:Why wouldnt Bally play if he is fit?Quixote wrote:I doubt they'll play Bally, either.

Great news.
Let's just wait and see then!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Eastern But Joey told me this morning at training. Nothing serious, an ankle tweek, he said they arn't prepared to risk anything at this stage of the season. Especially as there is a break next week. Made me wonder if Goose will play (my thoughts only). Pretty sure he's not flying back to Melb, as he said, see you Sunday. The full squad came up which made us very happy. Six players didn't train properly Roo, Max, Joey, Schnider, Gram & Armatage. They were on the bikes for quite a while then they did quite a bit of boxing. Then they just sat back and watched.
Everyone else did the full session, Lenny and Ball looked good. Also Tom Lynch looked fine. Forgot to ask if he was playing but he looked as though he would? Gilbert will play, but they will play the kids.
The players are very lean, they all looked good and enthusiastic.
They trained for two hours, all the various drills. The weather is still forcast to rain Sat night.
