That was a clue for the name of our most overated player.AlpineStars wrote:Oh and panic doesn't have a K at the end.plugger66 wrote:AlpineStars wrote:Outs Raph,X,Gwilt, Blake(inj) Mini

agreed...Batnoe wrote:If Leigh Fisher is an in, we are in trouble- sorry
given far too many chances than other players IMO...
and for reasons unknown....
Too slow and has no real strengths
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!
Assuming no injuries, reports....
Out
Jones - not good enough in this company
McQualter - ditto
In
Armitage - played well yesterday, getting better, good to give him some finals experience, need another inside mid
Ball - class, obvious inclusion if fit
In other situations
Blake out (inj) - who knows? Fisher?
Ball out (unfit) - Birss in
Lenny (report) - McQ in
We need to be able to match the Cats - they are the standard, that means getting more of the ball - hence the ball winners must come in.

Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
Are you serious. CJ was one of our better players. So you are happy to keep Gardiner and Gwilt but drop a player that was probably in our best 6.Richter wrote:Assuming no injuries, reports....

Plugger, I couldn't agree more. I was at the game this afternoon and one of the more noticeable positives from our side (and, as you know, there were very few) was the effort, commitment and hardness shown by CJ. He was, without question, one of our best players today. I rarely post on this site, however I read posts daily. I know that many people tend to have an issue with CJ's disposal. At times today it lacked some polish, however that can be said of most of our team.
The one thing that stood out today was purely and simply the difference in disposal between St.Kilda and Geelong. Geelong's disposal, by both hand and foot, is simply amazing. Rarely do they waste their disposals and, more often than not, they make the opposition team pay for poor disposal. This, to me, was the glaring difference between the two sides today.
I, undoubtedly like many other St.Kilda supporters, went to the game today genuinely believing that we were a strong chance to cause an upset. Credit where credit is due - Geelong is a very good team. I do, however, think that they are a beatable team. The catch is that the team that Geelong plays on any given day needs to actually turn up and apply themselves both physically and mentally, which is something that we failed to do in the end - disappointing to say the very least.
With any luck, we'll regroup from this loss and look at a number of areas in which we need to improve in order to beat Collingwood.

Ill second that. For me, he was our second our third best and some people need to accept that Jones is clearly in our best 22. One weakness does not mean that you suddenly cannot be in the best 22.bergsone wrote:CJ OUT.........Really must have been watching a different game to the one I was watching

CJ was great today. He was one of the few who put on considerable pressure around contests.nicko016 wrote:Ill second that. It was noticeable that pressure was applied quite well by the Saints at times but this wasn't sustained. Geelong was able to counter this by weight of numbers and muscling our insiders out of the contest.
When Collingwood beat this mob they were relentless with their pressure and tackling. We missed too many tackles today and cant afford this in any future final.
Birss is a must this week.
X is probably OK now he has had a run. I didnt agree with his selection this week though.
Ball is a must if fit but 7 indicated he wouldn't be available due to a set back during this week's preparation?!
I would prefer Kosi to Gardiner. Neither have been dominant this year but we know if the cards fall right Kosi can do the job down forward.
The midfield is the concerns to me. We must have Goddard in teh middle to provide some muscle at the contest and quality ball delivery to forwards.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Wipe your chin, this type of dribble is definitely not "good enough in this company".Richter wrote:Assuming no injuries, reports....
