Palmer said he grew up wanting to emulate Saints star Robert Harvey, who he played against this year.

"I loved Robert Harvey as a kid, the way he carried the ball and stepped up in big games," Palmer said after accepting the award from last year's winner, Joel Selwood at the ceremony at Crown in Melbourne this afternoon.

good to see the kid loves a true champion and one of the best players ever to exist. haveys a champion and i think one day palmer too will be a classy and very talented player.
hope the kid wins a brownlow one day.
