You are right about him being a smart guy.
He us a VERY very successful businessman who owns a chain of pubs amongst other things.
He treats the entertainment industry as exactly that...as an industry and as you say acts dumb as a persona. He plalys a role and as a result is on several radio and TV shows which combined would be earning him a very healthy amount.
Electronic Media unfortunately is virtually all dumbed down and if you want to work in it their are more opportunities for professional "fools" than "experts".
