Fraser Gehrig taken off LTI list
Just announced by the Saints...
It's been a tough year for Fraser but this is good news. I don't honestly expect he'll be back, but at the VERY least he's a great backup option just in case Roo and/or Kozi go down toward September (heaven forbid )
[quote]FRASER GEHRIG COMES OFF LONG TERM INJURY LIST
St Kilda Football Club today announced that Fraser Gehrig has been taken off the long term injury list.
The 32-year old spearhead is training strongly and has made good progress after succumbing to chronic arthritis in his right hand earlier in the year. While unlikely to play this season, Gehrig’s presence on the training ground has had a positive influence on the playing group as he continues to work hard under the watchful eyes of St Kilda’s medical and coaching staff.
Senior Coach Ross Lyon, said, “Obviously it’s been tough for Fraser to sit on the sidelines and watch the guys play for the majority of the year but it’s a really positive step for him to have resumed full training.â€

You are correct. Either way, we can re-elevate for Goose or Eljay.Quixote wrote:This doesn't mean we lose Eddy or Mini does it?
From memory these two came up for Goose and LJ...
Correct me if I'm wrong here...
The main ramifications of this is that Luke Miles will not play this year. It was doubtful anyway due to his recovery from his calf injury.

My reasoning is it must mean he's fit to play.RedWhiteBlack wrote:What harm is done by taking him off the LTI list though? It's not as if we lose another player seeing we never promoted a rookie in the first place.markp wrote:You'd think they wouldn't bother if he wasn't going to play again?
More comebacks than John Farnham if he does.....

...and handy to have another big leading forward. I reckon he might just get a run before the season's out.markp wrote:My reasoning is it must mean he's fit to play.RedWhiteBlack wrote:What harm is done by taking him off the LTI list though? If he is injury free it's massive news for us.....degruch wrote:...and handy to have another big leading forward. Gehrig handed injury boost
31st July 2008, 12:45 WST 2.45 Vic time
St Kilda have taken enigmatic forward Fraser Gehrig off the long term injury list.
The former West Coast Eagle has trained strongly in recent weeks after falling victim to chronic arthritis in his right hand.
However Gehrig, who has played 260 AFL games, remains unlikely to return to senior ranks this season and remains under the eye of club medicos.
“The club has given me all of the support and medical treatment I need, however I know where I fit in the current scope of the team and it will be really tough to get back,â€

love this- maybe more like " I'm BAAACK" in true Arnie voice-- but don't ask BJ he's inpersonation is awfulQuixote wrote:HE'S BACK... ... ...
I'd personally love to see him get to the 150 games for the Saints- But time is probably gone currently on 145
and only needs 10 goals to get to 400.
Good Luck Fraser
and I too think a coaching role of some form would be great
