Team vs Tigers
B. Geary, Max, S Fisher
HB. BJ, Goose, Gram
C. Joey, Armo, Dal
HF. Schneids, Roo, Charlie G
F. Milne, Kosi, Allen
Ruck. Gardi, Lenny, Bally
IC - McEvoy, X, Banger, Bakes
In - McEvoy, Geary, Schneider, Gardi, Allen
Out - Rix, Birss, Blake, Dempster, L Fisher
With the exception of maybe L Fisher, all of the outs should be out for a LONG while.
The Ins either are good players or by playing them will develop them into good players. We can't keep playing our good kids in the 2's
Other AFL teams play their kids, why don't we?

Birss stiff - I thought he was one of our better players tonight
Maguire - Love the guy but at the moment he just isnt stopping his player and is a liability
Rix for Gardiner is self explanatory
Schneider is a big in for us
Gehrig, despite not having the greatest of games in the reserves he could cause all kinds of mismatches against the tiger defence
Id also like to bring back Geary, he adds a lot when it comes to rebounding out of defence

we are to Richmond what Port are to us...SaintBot wrote:I'm glad your confident.Teflon wrote:sad thing is well belt the tigers and paper over the holes....
we will win comfortably and whoever we play a week later if they are remotely any good will be a show against us cause we'll be "superstars" again...

I wish we were playing Hawks this week - put some acid on this team instead of an honourable "40 odd" point win againstg a side strugglineg aka Essendon.
So when was the last time we belted anyone? I think you meant, we'll pull their pants down for a quarter, fall asleep fpr three quarters and scrape home by 5 points if we're lucky. You seen our percentage recently? We can't put away even the sh** teams and Richmond are improving. No way am I taking next week for granted.

I'm actually quite worried, especially if Gehrig comes back (i'm hoping he doesn't).
Richmond have a quick team, with a quick midfield and defense. If we lope around like we did today, we will get beaten.
Richmond aren't very skilled, which is why their still crap, but we'll need a much improved performance to beat them.

I don't think the Tiges have anything to worry about if we're gonna continue with the slow, boring, insipid style of football we play.
I miss...... B.Voss, A.Hamill, H.Black, J.Peckett, A. Jones, A. Thompson, and even B.Guerra.
No-one has stood up as a replacement for any of these blokes. (Armo has potential)
I hate saying it but Melbourne is probably the only team 'softer' than us (and not by much).

Some may want to think about whose Birr's opponent was....and what that player does against many teams......

i'm with ya
Been sayin' it for a while:
from tonight's team:
OUT: Rix, C Gardiner, Blake, Dempster, L Fisher, Milne possibly Birss (although he has a bit of mungle in him, which I like)
IN: M Gardiner, Gehrig, Schneider, McEvoy, Allen, Raph/Geary
Keep the faith in Maguire - he'll come good eventually.

If Gardy is fit. If not then Kosi rucks just not sure who with.
G allows Kosi to swap through the ruck and bench. Very little time forward!
If Richo plays on the wing who goes with him? Not Max, Not S.Fisher. Only salvation for Goose will be if he is the one to run with him. It's a tough call because otherwise Goose doesn't have a match up. We need a more mobile backline against this tiger outfit so hence Geary in. But if we don't play Goose and then Richo goes forward we are looking short. This is where Richmond are catching people out.
Tough call this week on match ups. Do we need another tagger in L.Fisher now bakes is back?
Will be very interesting and don't forget the Tiges beat Freo by 10+ goals over there and drew with the Dogs. They are a much better team with the current setup

What the fork is everyone's hatred of Blake based on?One Eyed Saint wrote:B. Geary, Max, S Fisher

With the exception of maybe L Fisher, all of the outs should be out for a LONG while.
The Ins either are good players or by playing them will develop them into good players. We can't keep playing our good kids in the 2's

Did you watch the game last night?
Do you really think both Blake and Dempster should go out whilst we keep a horribly out of touch Goose in???
Why can't you open your little eyes a bit and actually see what Blake did last night/has done this year.
Let me state this, I am NOT a huge fan of Blake - he's a GOP and will never be a top player IMO, but he's mobile, can take a contested mark and his disposal is acceptable (just!).
...and another thing - I don't think Birss was that bad either (he wasn't great, but did a bit), and should be given another go - we do needed taggers, even with Bakes in the side.
I do like all your ins, but doubt we'd be lucky enough to have both Schneids and Gardy both available given the run of things at the moment.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Blake will be needed next week! If Richo goes to the wing he is one person who can run with him. He won't need to compete with him in the air as if Richo does mark it out on the wing I don't think he will hurt us.
Only issue is that Richo would then take him to the goal square and will need to swap with Max.
If Richo plays forward then Blake becomes a mid target at half forward. His kicking for goal is no worse than anyone else on the team and I can't see Richmond paying him much respect. Could pop up with 2-3 goals

I think I read somewhere that as of the closed session last that he was meant to be back to full training.markinUSA wrote:I'm interested in why people think M. Gardiner will be back next week. Can someone tell me about his injury status? Is he close to returning?
He would be a great addition to our team.
If he did...then he should play against the Tigers.
But with it being closed....who knows??
The public training session this week may shed more light.
