Better than the 3,000 odd members we had in some of the dark days in the eighties?
Hard to believe membership totals throughout all clubs were so low back then - just shows how much of a mess the VFL was in and how poorly marketed it was.....people back then thought you only had a membership if you had a reserved seat (suburban grounds).....don't think many at all that stood bothered with memberships.

These membership numbers are a bit of a furphy. CEO’s at ALL clubs, are the master of spin. Freo for example have 43,343 members.
25,000 fully paid up seated members. $400 membership
6,000 country members….. if you live more than 150 kms from Perth ..gives them free entry to 5 home games. $200 membership
6,000 corporate members….eg: “Bill’s Shonky Carsâ€

i remember many a game in the 80's when the joint looked likeiwantmeseats wrote:Those early 80's figures dont seem right to me !! So your telling me , the social club stand at moorabbin plus the majority of the main stand running nearly the length of the ground equalled about 4000 only? bulls***.
a derserted paddock, one in particular against North the whole crowd
was < 5000 plenty of room for everyone but having said that i have seen lockouts after 25000 crowds and yes the membership back then was like the club, gone down the gurgler. The likes of Lockett Winmar Harvey etc had the crowds returning and the memberships up over 10000
me and the missus and me mates were members in the 80's

The outer often looked deserted, but the stands were always close to full, 4000 members just dosent sound right to me.
