Archie Fraser just said on SEN that Gardiner was shaping up well and that the medical reports are good.
Expects him to play from start of the season.
Great News!!!

I seem to remember hearing that statement repeatedly in Nov/Dec/Jan last year.saintsRrising wrote:Archie Fraser just said on SEN that Gardiner was shaping up well and that the medical reports are good.

well I am not going to say that it may not be spin!!! as we have had the 2 weeks Hamill spin....but Archie said his comments were based on the Doctors reports of his status.....so make of that what you will.Enrico_Misso wrote:

I would assume that most if not all of these appointments have been in train fora while...
ie The Club would have to have firstly sought out possibles...then narrowed it down...and then engaged them....
So how lucky are the new Board??? sometimes it pays to be 9in the right spot at the right time.
In a years time they will no doubt be basking in the glory of the "new" club....and much improved Football and Player Conditioning Departments....when it would be the case that most of not all of the appointments were set in train by the old Board.
Still I like the growing momentum and am really getting a good feeling for the direction we are now heading in....including the new Board. Lets hope they do their part and catually achieve expenditure matched with new income to exceed the increased spend well in excess of what the old Board would have achieved anyway... (ie all these appointments would have occurred anyway...).
Just landing 2 new major sponosrs would just be what the old Board would have done anyway....we need to see an OUT PERFORMANCE delivered.

Still cannot believe we've shafted Watts. You develop these kids and invest time into them. He's just turned 22. KPP prospects may not develop until they're 23-24.
I really hope we can rookie him. It's a shame his debut for us was poor - remember, the hype came off a magic SANFL prelim, and an immense trial game where he looked terrific in booting three goals (all from quite a distance IIRC).
Would hate to see us give up on him.

There is a lot of weight on the legs and feet of the big boys.saintsRrising wrote:..and not to mention actually gets fit and does not break down again!!!!riccardo wrote:'Bout time, to be honest.
Lets pray he stays fit.
His recovery doesn’t sound tricky to me at all; in fact I was expecting it. He had the same issue with the other foot and it was fixed by surgery and since the that problem began to cause some re-occurring problems in the second foot it was decided to pull out of 2006 and get it right too.
Good luck Gardi. It will take some time to get fully fit but I doubt it will take as long as some predict.

Agreed. Is there a way that we CAN rookie him? I think hes a talent, and without Brooks and Sweeney hed take the key forward position with Casey full time I would think.evertonfc wrote:McQualter...?saintspremiers wrote:Sweeney, Raymond, Brooks and Watts confirmed delisted per Archie on SEN

Like you said, hes only 22 and most KPP dont mature into their bodies until a few more years unless they're a freak like Roo. He has the talent, we shouldnt waste that.

Fergus clearly has issues with pace. Nobody can question this - but seriously, his late season form in the VFL seemed to suggest he really was capable of stepping up and cracking the big time.n1ck wrote:Agreed. Let's say we suffer a rucking deficiency - Gardiner & King go down, leaving Kosi to play there with Rix...who will play at FF?
I would thought Watts would be a genuine option at least as a back-up now, with the potential to be Gehrig's successor down the track.
I hope the club has the same attitude to him as it had to Matty Ferguson last year.
And FWIW, we've just picked up Dempster - a better version of Ferguson. Yet Ferguson is staying. We've lost Gehrig, yet Watts is being cut as well - just 24 months after giving up pick 17 to get him.
Is it just me or does that not seem like prudent list management?

Ken Sheldon would still be there...not Drain, who is far superior to Sheldon. In a years time they will no doubt be basking in the glory of the "new" club....and much improved Football and Player Conditioning Departments....when it would be the case that most of not all of the appointments were set in train by the old Board.
It's about whom the board can get now....with the old board, they had no hot or even warm leads...just a gaping hole...the new board attracting major sponsors will be a great achievement , especially from a standing start , and it will be superior if the dollars are better, net of servicing cost(which were high for the last 2), and if they are of a type who are likely to stay in the long termJust landing 2 new major sponosrs would just be what the old Board would have done anyway....we need to see an OUT PERFORMANCE delivered

Great achievement???
Why...the old Board would have gained new Major Sponsors too. sponsors have come and gone. It is just spin and rubbish to say that the old Board would not have secured more major sponsors.
Major Sponosrs have come and gone...What we need to see for the new Board to have suceeded is markedly more increased revenue gained from Sponsorship....
Staus Quo is not good enough if they are to deliver on their promises.
Gaining two major Sponors is just getting the Status Quo back...
...as for long term....well that will not be know for 5 years plus....
FF's platform was to deliver significantly increased football spend (and benefits to Members) and this needs to be BEYOND what the old Board had already targetted for increased spend.
This is in part why FF gained my vote.....and ceratainly not to just land two new major sponosrs of similr $$$ that we would have gained anyway.
I don't expect them to deliver all the extra $$$ by season 2008 start....but certainly heading into 2009 FF need to have in place total revenue of say an extra $2 million.

There must be some questions about Matthew Drain, because super coach Thomas was totally opposed to us appointing him previouslysaintsRrising wrote:also chatted on Matthew Drain,

Has broad experience from cricket to Football.
Archie said they aggressively went after him.
