Schneider/Dempster for #26 and Johnson for #68
Fair deals if you ask me. Especially the Sydney deal. I would have contemplated Schneider alone for #26...

I don't believe fisher failed a fitness test by a long way.
Possible reasons for Sydney wanting to offload a player or two.
Salary cap
they have buch's, okeefe and schneider that all play very similar roles
Haven't drafted much in the last couples of years and want to get some picks?
Their on drugs and are currently in a physicodalic trip

Neither of those trades will go through
There is no way in hell that we would get Schneider and Dempster for pick 26. Leigh Fisher and pick 26 would probably be a fair trade.
We have pick 58, not 68 and Melbourne seem pretty keen on keeping him. A fourth round draft pick has absolutely NO currency this year and it would basically mean Melbourne are willing to delist him. Since he survived the axe a few weeks ago, I doubt they would consider trading Johnson for a fourth rounder.

dempster is little more or less than troy schwarz in form, he is being off loaded to clear the decks and hopefully st kilda can make more of him than sydney has, he isn't in their best 32 players.mad saint guy wrote:Neither of those trades will go through

have a look at schneiders form, its pretty ordinary against top 8 sides, struggling to get to 10 possessins and a goal if that.
at a similar age even guerra was ahead of schneider.
paul roos is not a stupid man, as for saying its ross lyons influence, I've posted on the other thread his form in 06 as well.
schneider is a GOP with potential to be a good player.
otherwise why is Roos trying to offload a player who WANTS to STAY at sydney, its not like he's asked to leave.
the rumour is sydney want room in the salary cap and draft picks.
my hypothesis is they are going to make a play for a top player.
IMO adcock.

Any updates on this trade??
Things seem to have gone very quiet today, considering last night many news channels were reporting that it was a 'done deal'
Given the reaction to this possible draft from many Swans supporters (ie, horrified to be loosing Schneider), I'm hoping Sydney haven't done a back-flip.

Dempster was kept in the Swans Elim Final team ahead of Buchanan.
I'd say that Roos did rate him pretty highly a month ago. Things change though when you realise your list is stagnating.
The salary cap/draft pick/have a crack at Adcock scenarios are reasonable though.
It this trade does go through hopefully it will give Schneider the kick up the bum that he needs to realise his potential. He may also thrive if Lyon loosens up the reigns & allows the team to play more attacking footy. That's the environment where crumbers & opportunistic forwards like Schneider & Yapper can thrive.

Interesting that the Saints are chasing Chris Johnson. Could this be due to Anthony Rock's involvement at Melbourne before joining the Saints? From memory he was the midfield coach there and I do recall Johnson having some reasonable games for the Dees during the '06 season before falling out of favour in 07.
If we could get him for a late 4th round I'd certainly be happy.

IMO paul roos was crying with the injury to tadgh keneally, he is possibly their most important player. oh how the gods cruelled sydney
Roos is now knows the value of keneally to HIS brand of football, and desperately needs to find a 1/ replacement 2/ complimentary player for kenneally.
if leigh fisher failed to meet sydney's requirements it would be on flat out speed not skill or endurance.
you could say no keneally no sydney on their 07 form.

we dont know what the criterea is for the testEnrico_Misso wrote:What's wrong with Fishn1ck wrote:I... but since Fish failed the medical.
eg Roos wants speed in the team so the fitness test might require fish to run the 100 in 10sec ect ect and hes not the fastest bloke we have so he may have nothing wrong but not pass THAT fitness test

schneider's not even interested in coming to the saints.....only started to consider it when roos told him he wouldn't be getting a game in 2008.....

Whether or not they happen, it is clear that some St Kilda supporters have an over-inflated opinion of their own players, and significantly under-value opposition footballers.
The fact is Schneider and Dempster have both been starting 18 players in a side that has played in 2 of the last 3 Grand Finals.
Both of them have played 85%+ games for the Swans in that time.
They are solid footballers, and have been well-developed. Both are 23 years old and still have improvement left in them.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.
