Riewoldt /Dal /Hayes take your pick!!
Never take a backward step even to gain momentum.....

Riewodlt would be our most important by a fair way.
However, looking at it from a different angle I think MG is our most important. We know what we are going to get from Roo, Dal and Lenny but MG is such an unknown. For us to be legitimate contendors he is somehow going to have to by some miracle get up and play some decent football but if he doesn't we will again be in trouble. If you had to choose a layer to play every 22 games then it would be Roo but if you had to choose someone to have a career best year or something it would be Gardy because you can bank on Rooey having a pretty solid year.

That's the sort of optimism we like to see...brown-coat wrote:Riewoldt is the new Harvey.
He's the player we'll rely on while we scavenge the bottom of the ladder while we rebuild over the next few years.

Hudghton
Maguire
Goddard
Gram
Hayes
Riewoldt
Are the players who we simply can't replace with quality. Max is our only good spoiling defender. Goose is our only big-bodied defender. Goddard is a huge weapon and we can't replace his kicking. Hayes is our only consistent midfielder who does the hard stuff and well as receiving plenty of the footy. Riewoldt is our best player by an absolute mile.
Sam Fisher has been our second best performing player over the past two years, so maybe I don't have him there because I don't know how much we'd miss him. Although the likes of Goddard, R.Clarke and Gilbert could all play that role very well.
I would love to have Kosi on that list...but he just hasn't performed well enough over a whole season to warrant that. If he could play at his dominant best 4 games out of 5 then he will win the Brownlow and become the best ruck/forward in the competition. But right now I think we could probably cope without him as long as Gardiner got himself fit.

I agree Max is also very important but we need to trade for a KPP backman i dont know who but someone good.
Maguire should be better this year.
Kosi
Gardiner (even thougn he hasnt played one game for us is vital for ruck!!)
Hayes (best midfielder in AFL, how we forget. No judd in 2008 makes him so.)
everyone is hard to replace but those 3 are going to make difference between finals and no finals!
