Judd leaving Eagles, SEN confirmed - discussion

Post: # 456956Post fisher_fan »

Read in the Sun today its looking more and more likely Judd will be coming back to Vic. Although its irrelevant to the Saints I was just wondering what team you think will snap him up and how?

This is my guess....

Bulldogs Receive - Brendan Fevola
Eagles Receive - Kennedy, Pick 3 (Carlton) , Pick 6 (Bulldogs)
Carlton Receive - Chris Judd

So Carlton lose pick 3 and Fevola. that will not happen.

The problem with that is he can go to Richmond for nothing if they ask for to much.

Probably the biggest name in the AFL right now though. They won't give up Kreuzer to get him and Dogs have apparently been talking to Fev. I see it as the only way to get him......I don't think that they have enough trade bait other than Fev to get a first round pick. Big name would come at a big price. Herald Sun says $5 Mil for 5 years....

i hope he does go to carlton.

they can't afford to legitimately keep him.

also if he does go, he will be battling OP.

he is a fantastic player, but can't win matches on his own.

carlton will be a few percent better as a team, but thats about it.

Not the *worst* I've seen, I'll say that much.

I think most parties would be quite happy with that...if Judd wanted to leave, that is.

I don't reckon he'll leave after the disappointing year than he's had.

If he'd had another ripping year & another premiership... maybe. I just reckon he'll feel he owes his mates to give it another crack with that group.

My tip is he'll be back in Melb after his next contract, 2010.

Why Kennedy? West Coast already have Hansen and Lynch up forward, and they got Mitch Brown in the 06 draft, who so far has looked better than Kennedy has. If anything, West Coast would want a midfielder if they're losing Judd.

Well then they could on-trade Kennedy + a top pick to Collingwood for Didak, who could be on-traded for Van Berlo + a mid-range pick.

...or thereabouts

Don't think Judd will go anywhere IMO, although the Blues have some good bargaining power.

You can't trade away a priority pick.

Sheehan reported the were more likely to use him as bait to get Judd than there first pick. Kennedy is from East Fremantle, just thought id throw him in there.....

Surely Carlton will do whatever it takes to get their hands on Judd. Where there's a will there's a way. So I reckon it's highly likely to happen.

The statements from the WCE today seemed to me to be broadly accepting that this is what is going to happen. They know he is not right physically, and would be happy to let him go at the right price. I reckon that Carlton might be able to do a slightly better deal than 2 draft picks in the top 5, given Judd's injury problems. Certainly, I don't see getting rid of big Fev as a forward step: you'd want both Judd and Fev.

Carlton is the one club that probably be too bothered about how fit Judd actually is. Recruiting Judd, even if he doesn't get out on the field fully fit during 2008, sends a signal to the football world and the members that the new regime at Carlton is serious about restoring the club to its "rightful" place at the top of the league. If I were in charge of the Blues, I would throw everything bar the kitchen sink at getting him.

I certainly don't think the Saints should even spend 10 seconds thinking about getting involved. We can't afford him without taking out other irreplacable players.

I don't see why Judd would want to go to Carlton, Where is the appeal?. If it'd be smart to go to a there abouts team like Kangroo's, Hawks. Who are young and already going well.

Another thing is also, would the Blues be willing to trade their most likely replacement for Fevola?

Simon Black to Eagles and 2nd round pick

Chris Judd to Blues

Lions get off the Blues their 2 first picks

Bulldogs then offer pick 6 for Fevola

Lions in pick 3 and 19, out Black and pick 24

Eagles in Black and pick 24, out Judd

Blues, in Judd and pick 6, out picks 3, 19 and Fevola

Dogs, out pick 6 in fevola

I noticed that Daniel Harford on SEN was trying to boost the value of Fevola by saying that the saints could be interested in him !!

He's already won a premiership. Helping turn Carlton around would be a new and exciting challenge for him. And the Blues would build a team around him, rather than expect him to fit in to existing plans.

Also, I suspect he has significant ambitions beyond football, and playing for Carlton is better pathway to these than playing for the likes of the Roos or Hawks.

pagan reckons that he would cost the blues their no1 and 3 picks.....also they are prepared to pay 7.5 mil over 5 years...hope they sign him for that...then hope that he doesn't get out on the park...would be called karma..for all the sh!t we have had to put up with from the scummers for signing hamill to a five year deal.....

i would think that wet toast would want a lower pick than that...or two lower picks.....judd is the premier player in the competition....

Bulldogs do far too well out of that trade, and Carlton don't get nearly enough.

Carlton effectively get Goose for Fev. That's never going to happen.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Of course we're interested. We may not pursue that interest, however.

As much as we'd like to get him, other clubs will offer more, and our priority will be getting a ruckman, allowing Kosi to play FF full-time and develop Fergus Watts as well.
