How do we get another 1st round pick?
In what they are labelling as as super draft, how do we engineer another 1st rounder? (Apart from the Battle compensation )
There are a few team looking to get players that don't have enough draft capital that we could take advantage of. And there are some teams looking to move back in the draft cos they only need the points.
So what should we do?

Re: How do we get another 1st round pick?
Fremantle and Gold Coast each have three first round picks, as it stands.
Could we trade 7 & 8 to Fremantle for 10, 11 & 16?
Or 7 & 8 to Gold Coast for 6, 13 & 21? That would leave us with 6, 13, 21 & 24.
Possible, but probably unlikely.

Agree 100%. 'Draft & Develop'. We have incredible development coaches atm.

Re: How do we get another 1st round pick?
Freo need picks for Bolton so not likely.
If Battle comp is 8 , with Ashcroft becomes 8&9
I know draft is deep but 2 top 10 picks - assuming not 2 HBF like last time we had 2 in top 10, i think that is a good get.

Don't mind the 2nd option, maybe we could use a future combined with this year 2nd to up grade our 2nd pick (which is already start to blow out)

Now why would we do that when the ink is still wet after signing him up for an 8 year deal?

Re: How do we get another 1st round pick?
I think there is going to be a bidding war for the pick 12, so if we want to do that swap, something else would have to be attached to our F1, like a F2 or Rd3 or something like that.

Re: How do we get another 1st round pick?
I imagine there will be some splitting to accommodate who we want to get in.
Maybe that gold Coast trade but take out 6 and 7 or 8 and we get 28, that might end up around a mid 30s pick and be good enough for Macrae? Leaving 45 for Soldo? I don't value them that high, but don't know what realistically gets them done.
Or maybe we shuffle round with some picks that Richmond get for everyone jumping ship there. Some of their later picks would be about right for what we want to bring in.

Most likely will become 9 & 10 given there will likely be an early bid on Gold Coast Academy player Leo Lombard.

Re: How do we get another 1st round pick?
You don’t want to trade down from out first pick 8
Pick 9
Maybe for 2 other top 20 picks
Could end up with
Reid - mid
Hynes - forward mid
Whitlock - key back
Moraes - wing

Re: How do we get another 1st round pick?
You want a pick in the top 8 players
Smith, Ashcroft, O’Sullivan, Draper, Lalor, Reid, Langford, Smillie
Are the top end quality.

Jagga smith biggest draft trap of all time, will die on this hill. Will not be a top 40 player from this crop, has no attributes that will translate to AFL success.

Keep the two Top 10 picks - draft two pure midfielders.
Do not draft half forwards, or half back flankers, or ruckmen.

Oh, no, not this Gold Coast Suns bid garbage again. They are like the gift that keeps on giving, aren't they.FortiusQuoFidelius wrote: ↑Fri 04 Oct 2024 5:00pmMost likely will become 9 & 10 given there will likely be an early bid on Gold Coast Academy player Leo Lombard.

Re: How do we get another 1st round pick?
If we were VERY confident we'd snag a legend would we?
We have picks R1 #7, #8 and Early R2 #27
I reckon this is one of the strongest draft hands for R1, only we hold R1 double picks in the top 10!!! We could do some magic & Im confident we are looking at every angle.
Tigers > swap 7 & 8 for #1
They'd have 7, 8, 21, 24
Roos > swap 8, 27 for #2
They'd have 8, 25, 27
Eagles > swap 8, 27 for #3
They'd have 8, 26, 27
Crows> swap 8, 27 for #4
They'd have 8, 27, 28
Dees swap 8, 27 for #5
They'd have 8, 27
Suns swap 8, 27 for #6
They'd have 8, 13, 23, 27
Or add in a combo of players plus picks?
I'm aware we will all drop down as Father/son puck for Ashcroft bites and what of the 4 Academy lads affecting the draft?
I doubt mant teams would swap out picks 1-6 for our 8 & 27 but who knows?

Just go to the draft with the 2 picks and stop trying to be cute.

Re: How do we get another 1st round pick?
If you really want 3 first round picks.
- Send 8 + 27 to GWS
- Receive 15 + 16 from GWS
- Could probably get 46 swapped to 37 as well.
For Us
Before - 7, 8, 27, 46
After - 7, 15, 16, 37
For GWS
Before - 15, 16, 21, 37
After - 8, 21, 27, 46
Though I think I'd just stay with what we currently have in 7, 8, 27.
I guess it depends on the tallent pool. I just want premium mids.
