Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Needs to lift
94% was the best from a Saints player today but there's still room for improvement
Well done Ronnie and congratulations on a good year

Played well!

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Loved what he did on the inside a few times when the heat was on.
Almost a break out game for him.
Me thinks half of Ronnie’s battle is believing in himself a bit more and what he can bring to the team.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Yep. Already said it in an earlier thread that his development has been a slow burn, especially in regards to his decision making. He's actually one of our better users of the foot now.
Pretty bloody ridiculous that some people on here were calling for him to be dropped this week. Absolutely clueless, I swear to god

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
By the way...my post was tongue in cheek
Byrnes had the highest disposal efficiency of all our players today.

His kicking has improved 1000% - good on him for identifying a major weakness in his game and turning it around!

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
I’m one that’s felt he needs to work on his output and damage. His work rate is completely beyond reproach.
Still don’t love 17 touches on a wing… only had 5 in the second half but, when you do the damage you get the pass.
Byrnes to me is one of a few players on the team that I like but feel he still has to improve a bit if we’re going to go up a level

As I have contributed previously, 2 sided players bring a skill set
This includes Byrnes and Clark

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
First quarter had about 5 meters gained from his 7 touches of course his DE should be high. Non damaging or creative. He’s fit and runs the arch’s but doesn’t off much.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Byrnes had 1 score involvement in the first quarter. Same as Carlton’s captain - 1 score involvement
Paddy Cripps first quarter. 7 disposals, only 7 metres gained. Non damaging. Doesn’t offer much

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Excellent so his 15 meter sideways pass eventually finished in a score.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Byrnes is one of a number of players who were sent back to the Zebras this year to work on their game and actually lifted.
Byrnes, Phillipou, Jones and Sharman were the stand outs.
Stocker, Caminiti and Membrey to some extent too.
Credit to Batch and RTB for using the process effectively.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
I like Byrnes.
He’s fit, he cracks in and he tries to take the game on when the opportunity is there.
He runs hard both ways and pushes back deep into defence.
He’s never going to be a gun and probably not top 22 in a contending team, but if he is ranked 23-30 on your list you have good depth as he can come in and contribute, is also an ideal sub.
If he was delisted as some would suggest, I bet he’d be picked up by another club pretty quickly.
Unfortunately one poster in particular who has little to zero footy knowledge continues to bag Byrnes despite the value he adds when selected.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Byrnes is coming along nicely, and will be a better player again in the next couple of seasons, same for Pou, Wilson, Caminiti and a few others.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
In 2007, Geelong had 16 players who could kick both sides. Unlike Clarke, Byrnes could not kick both sides when he started, but has clearly worked on it, so much so that his goal was on the left.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Byrnes makes far too many basic errors to be good senior footballer. Lands the ball on teammates heads far too often and kicks on his opposite when he doesn't need too.

Geez there's a lot of garbage on this site. Someone should take out the trash!
I'm not sure why there's a pile on on Byrnes. He's a good young footballer. I think he'll play 200 games for the Saints.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
They're my thoughts too, he's taken a while to develop his skills and I wondered if he was going to become part of the furniture at Moorabbin, but he's certainly improved a lot since being recalled to the side for round 17.
Not sure if he has the class to be a damaging wingman, but there's every chance he will play more as a mid, which is the position he was recruited for in the 2019 draft.

Re: Ryan Byrnes Disposal efficiency
Were many of his kicks difficult
He played well
But
Seemed like a lot of his kicks were 20-35 m passes to free players
