RTB must go
For us to go forward we need to get rid of Lyon
He’s past it
Stodgy, stilted game plan
Can’t develop players - has he ever?
Sick of his mincing walk
Not up to it
Discuss.

Yep. F me
Saints will only over be successful due to 1 bloke
If Ross keels over, lock the doors and close down the footy club

Whatever floats your boat
Why not try and have your own viewpoint and opinion
It’s a forum to share ideas and have arguments
Not just a place to say - in Ross I trust - that means you can’t form your own opinion

or maybe the B is for baiting.
Anyway humility in victory is an admirable trait. So if baiting must go. OK.

Re: RTB must go
I just had to do a double check of the ladder...yep 14th.
Every Saints favourite part of the year is coming up too...pre-season, we normally go pretty well then too.

Re: RTB must go
The ladder position is all that counts at this level for a coach. Finals last season, bottom half of the ladder this season- Lyon needs to get us up and challenging for finals next year. We all want us to win, but a burst of late season form in an otherwise disappointing season, doesn't cut the mustard.

Re: RTB must go
Whatever the outcome, we (St Kilda Football Club) have gone all in on Lyon.
Our fate is tied to his success.
It's not just one man, it's a one man cult.
I'm optimistically hopeful that it's a cult of success.

Aren't we in a battle to not finish bottom 4...?

Re: RTB must go
No doubt our injuries and ridiculous suspensions played a huge part in our early season performances.
Anyone that thinks losing best 22 players doesn't hurt is a fool.

Yep, so we are. Yet our performances on Saturday and against Sydney a couple of weeks ago, were better than any last year. Progress isn't necessarily measured on W/L.

Re: RTB must go
Geelong, Preliminary Finals in 2004 & 2005, 7 wins in 2006, juggernaut the year later. Progress isn't linear, particularly in a W/L and ladder sense.spert wrote: ↑Mon 29 Jul 2024 9:23am The ladder position is all that counts at this level for a coach. The team Geelong had that made the prelims two years running in 2004 & 2005... could have been coached by anyone

Wasn't it Ross who said last year "the ladder doesn't lie" regarding our W/L?The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Mon 29 Jul 2024 3:42pm we are. Yet our performances on Saturday and against Sydney a couple of weeks ago, were better than any last year. Progress isn't necessarily measured on W/L.
Can't have two different stories just to suit the narrative.

Re: RTB must go
Well, the ladder doesn't lie. But it might refrain from telling the truth. When you have a series of close losses that more or less come down to luck, your W/L may not reflect where you sit in relation to other teams. At one point this year we were 14th, and if our close losses were close wins, we would have been 3rd.Otiman wrote: ↑Mon 29 Jul 2024 7:50pmWasn't it Ross who said last year "the ladder doesn't lie" regarding our W/L?The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Mon 29 Jul 2024 3:42pm we are. Both North and West Coast led for large parts of the game last year. That's the 17th and 18th on the ladder that we struggled against
The luck...goes both ways. Last year we had 4 close wins and 2 of those were against the bottom two teams in the comp (who could have easily beaten us if umpiring decisions didn't go our way late in games).
Lose those and we would have finished 12th or worse. In the end it's history and who cares anyway. I'm ecstatic that we recruited Darcy Wilson and I'm rapt the way we're playing atm.

Re: RTB must go
It's no coincidence we have started to improve after getting some more talent into the side, which has come in the form of injured players returning and established players returning to foem and some young players going up a level.Otiman wrote: ↑Mon 29 Jul 2024 7:50pmWasn't it Ross who said last year "the ladder doesn't lie" regarding our W/L?The G Train Legacy wrote: ↑Mon 29 Jul 2024 3:42pm we are. Skills pays the bills.
We are still short of depth on talent, we are vulnerable to injuries still.
That is the only reason we are 14th.
Our recruiting has had a few good years, need that to continue for a few more.
Talent talent talent wins flags.
