Doesn't win them the game.
In fact when they were racking up cheap possessions was when we were well on top.

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
So what’s the reason it keeps happening?
Bad delivery inside 50 kicking to the oppo
Lack of defensive accountability from forwards
Poor leading patterns from forwards leading to turnover
Lack of blocking for forwards to get clear
Poor aerial contest work
???
How do we fix the problem?

Them trying to get passed our press by moving the ball laterally. It is why they had so many marks.shrodes wrote: ↑Sat 08 Jun 2024 11:09pm So what’s the reason it keeps happening?

We're happy to let them have the boundary kick.

Sinclair and NWM 60 between them. Half back you can’t not get the ball

It’s what happens when you don’t hold six forwards and play a soccer style nil all draw

Neutral games are for enjoyment.
I was very happy with a win but never enjoy the game.

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
I do think this is a weakness in our style.
The teams that open us up… do it from halfback.
I don’t mind the zoning off but we need to be able to shut down these play makes.
All three of these players were fantastic

It was Collins tonight. But he is a criminally underrated defender.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
Yes.
I enjoyed.
1. The push and pull between two styles
2. Watching Windhager go to work on Touk
3. Watching our backline repeatedly stand up and then rebound through a chain of handballs
4. Watching Mitch Owens bully his way through the footy
5. Watching Hill, Milera, Sinclair, Bonner and Henry hut some ridiculous passes
6. Watching a true front a centre small forward get rewarded by being in the right position
7. Watching the entire teams ability to close space on turnover due to great running ability and desire
8. Watching Clark and Dow show what it means to have genuine clearance mids in the side
9. Not knowing who was going to win
What I didn't enjoy.
1. Our key forwards inability to halve a contest or take strong marks
2. Watching Seb Ross confirm the end is coming for him
3. The poor umpiring (both ways)
Give me that over a high scoring loss by 5 goals any day.

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
Couldn’t agree more. If you can’t enjoy a win where we’re the better team against a top 8 side that absolutely everyone would say has more talent than us, then you’ve lost a part of what makes barracking for a team enjoyable.nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Sun 09 Jun 2024 2:29amYes.

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
7 goals
7 times in 120 minutes for a cheer
We were a soft Max King free kick away from losing a game we dominated
The best thing about our game was a tagger!!!
Those mids
Dow 20, Clark 18, Windhager 15 even Steele 20
Didn’t exactly set the game alight

I would hate to be as miserable as you.
There is plenty to cheer about, learn to enjoy the journey.

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
I’m only a miserable footy supporter
Seen
3 losing GFs
8 wooden spoons
1 finals wins in 12 years
And now this - an inept team that can’t score
Otherwise
Rest of the time - pretty happy

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
Just give up then. It's not worth being miserable over. Especially if you can't find joy in a win.
I'm being serious not having a crack. Anything that makes you miserable should be seriously evaluated in your life.

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
It doesn’t bother me to the point that it actually effects my day
It is frustrating watching your team play so poorly
7 goals in 120 minutes from 56 entries
Unwatchable

Re: Which Half Back this week?!
7 goals in only 1 quarter tonight
That proves we can turn it on. Also shows we don't stop coming. Loved the effort from the team to fight it out
I think the players will get some excellent learning from this game....and they can be confident that connection between mids and forwards is improving

Losersville gave it their best, however, they were the Losers.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
