Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy
Good. We need some matured-bodied, experienced players back soon if this is to be anything more than a development year.
Brad Crouch, for example, good player but short of superstar status. We’ve missed him a lot more than many would have thought.
We need a competitive performance this week against Port Adelaide or there is a danger the entire club will just drop the bundle. I’m all for getting games into kids when you can, but there is a tipping point beyond which you become a North Melbourne. It’s a matter of balance

I fear that we'll put in a rubbish performance in Adelaide...100 % effort, but bad tactics, poor execution.bigcarl wrote: ↑Wed 24 Apr 2024 2:44pm Good. We need some matured-bodied, experienced players back soon if this is to be anything more than a development year.

We'll be lucky to beat Norf, let alone every other game

Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy
I was at training today, Hammer definitely has issues with his strapped left shoulder.
In tackling drills he would grimace and after the drill he would rub his shoulder.
In match sim he was competitive but after each contest he would bend forward and hang his left arm down.
He seems to have full movement and even took a great mark over the pack.
To me, he looks quite sore in that shoulder.
No idea if King will play Friday but he looks sore to me as well.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy
Thanks Bob for your update!
Doing the right thing with Dow giving him another week of conditioning
If he gets through the Sandy match unscathed we should see him debut for us v North
Can't say I am too confident about this week v Port but it gives our players from last week a chance to redeem themselves somewhat with a more competitive showing
Been a tough start to the year but I reckon we will begin to right the ship thereafter with more experienced players coming back into the fold.

Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy
Hopefully he can avoid a full reco at seasons end but the shoulder looked like a partial dislocation. Im sure the club has scanned it, so he must be able to play through it but he may need a jab or two to get him through.bobmurray wrote: ↑Wed 24 Apr 2024 5:53pm I was at training today, Hammer definitely has issues with his strapped left shoulder.

Hopefully Paddy Dow can get up to speed quickly in the VFL as we desperately need his influence in the centre clearances.

Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy
Do posters on this site believe Dow is best 22?
I don't rate Dow highly, however assume he gets a run when fit due to the Crouch injury and our lack of midfield quality.
If we can recruit/ draft some midfield talent I think he becomes depth.

Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy
Definitely best 22 at present. Probably only Steele, crouch, windhager and maybe Ross ahead of him at present from the mids. Those 4 are different variations of the same type of bull inside mid player, whereas Dow brings a point of difference and speed from stoppage.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Thu 25 Apr 2024 1:48pm Do posters on this site believe Dow is best 22?

Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy
Definitely is best 22 if he can replicate his breakout form from last season. He had several outstanding games when he was played as a permanent midfielder.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Re: Paddy Dow to play for Sandy
I'm reserving judgement until I have seen a St Kilda sample size. He has questionable disposal and when the modern game is built around scoring from the turnover it worries me having a potential turn over merchant in our midfield.

He is a midfield burst player that we dont have. Yes best 22 until we can find a better replacement.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Thu 25 Apr 2024 1:48pm Do posters on this site believe Dow is best 22?
