Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Round 1 • Friday 22 March 2024 • 4:05 PM
Head down to Moorabbin. I think it's free entry
or... watch the match live on the afl app
Just navigate to the VFL stream and fixture and follow the links (on my phone there's a menu that pops up with 3 dots in the top right hand corner)

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Looking for Arie and Garcia to put their hands up to cover Wood.
Also want to see Crouch make us all doubt whether dropping him was actually a sensible idea

Crouch, Butler, Caminiti and Garcia all looking quite good so far.

Keeler good too. Schoenmaker not so much.

32-1 now. Playing with the wind, but it's not all that strong.

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Crouch playing well with Zebs proves nothing
Who's place does he take?
Jones or Byrnes? Or does he take Windhagers spot?
I heard Ross in the after mach presser talking about how young the group is. We need to keep blooding the next gen. I watched Ross in the coaches box with 5 minutes to go after Higgins kicked the miraculous goal and he was as proud as punch with his young chargers.
Crouch is not a half back flanker and he hasn't got the aerial impact that both Sharman and Phillipou provide.
Many critics of Pou don't give him credit for how many marking contests he competes in. You don't always have yo take the nark to be involved in the game.
Ross spoke of the forwards and how important it is to 'bring the ball to ground'.

Schoenmaker going better now too. Angus McLennan also looking very good down back.

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Well, in the short term, he could come in for Wood. Byrnes went better on the wing that he had before Wood went off injured. Crouch could do what Byrnes was picked to do.
He's a quality player. We are playing AFL at the moment, not pre-season trials.

All coming a bit unstuck now for the Zebras: 33 to 25 for us a few minutes into the second quarters.

Ronnie and Wilson provide run and spread. There's no way Ross will put Crouch on a wing. He's not a wingermeher baba wrote: ↑Fri 22 Mar 2024 4:33pmWell, in the short term, he could come in for Wood. If you weren't watching last night, Ross Lyon had Henry, Jones and Sinclair at stoppages. As well as Steele and Sebby. Windhager had a breakout game playing in the centre.
Sounds to me like you want to slot Crouch in...no matter what!!
Rowan and Michito are clearance beasts and they provide aerial contests. Loved watching our mids working better together. Crouch plays a little selfish at times imo

I'm sorry, I mustn't have made myself clear. I'm not proposing that Crouch play on the wing. I'm proposing that Byrnes play in Wood's spot, and Crouch comes in to take Byrnes's spot.Scollop wrote: ↑Fri 22 Mar 2024 4:59pmRonnie and Wilson provide run and spread. We played well last night but we don't want to get ahead of ourselves. You need quality, seasoned players to beat AFL teams that abound with quality, seasoned players. The Bombers aren't the best team in the comp, but they've got some good players.

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Anyway, Zebras looking like garbage in the second quarter (34-49 at half time) and Crouch didn't do much in the second quarter.
Schoenmaker is now looking the best for us. If he keeps it up for the entire game, he'll perhaps be putting a bit of pressure on Bonner.

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Sandy seem to have stopped and the Pies are now well on top.
Half Time scores,
Sandy 5-4-34 to Pies 7-7-49.
Sandy only kicked 1 point in the 2nd Q whilst the Pies kicked 5 goals 6 behinds, shite by sandy in that quarter.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Well, watching Sandy hasn't got any better. Just awful to watch. I didn't see the first 20 minutes, so I missed the good stuff.
McLennan and Schoenmaker have been solid. Garcia playing with energy. Hotton barely getting near it. Moose looking like a lumbering 1960s ruckman. Midfield is a rabble. Just looks like the usual Auskick standard we're used to with Sandy.

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
I don't think so.
Crouch can't replicate Byrnes run and spread.
Move on
We need to move forward. Play another young bloke

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Arie 21 disposals, 7 marks at half time
Overall quality was poor from what I saw, lots of turnovers, handballs over the head to no one, kicking out on the full etc.

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
So, two games into the season,we give up on the guy who came sixth in our B&F last year. For who exactly? Garcia? Hotton? Neither have looked all that special playing for the Zebs this evening.

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Wood plays as a winger. Byrnes started on the bench. He was rotating off the bench and replacing Henry or Hill.
Jones did ok when he came on as sub.
Ronnie played a serviceable game
We don't need Crouch to start in the team. Play Collard again as sub or Garcia as sub
Anyway...if Henry is injured with a hammy. It's a no brainer. Crouch will come in as will Butler

Arie Schoenmaker demanding selection now.......26 disposals and 10 marks, not even 3 quarter time yet.....bring on the Superboot!

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today
Don’t think Crouch played Q3, might have yanked him in preparation for next week
Arie played a spot in the midfield and looked a bit lost, but playing well off half back and trusted with kick ins
