Darcy Wilson
Alway destined to play Afl , very dedicated kid that has excelled in any sport he chooses. Darcy lives down the road from me in the same street and hung around my young bloke playing cricket , footy and B Ball. Was up until last year in the Vic U/18's cricket program selected as a promising fast bowler, but had to make a choice. His Dad Mick currently works with the Murray Bushrangers as a talent scout and is considered a Wangaratta Rovers legend in the Ovens & Murray Football league. Mick represented Vic Country numerous times through out his footy career, and his uncle is Mick Nolan ( Galloping Gasometre) who played with North. I have so many sporting stories about Darcy I could say, but my post would go on forever......Quite simply one of those generational kids that everybody has gone to school with that dominates every& any sport they participate in. Unbelievable athlete aswell, has participated and ran at Vic Schoolboy national champs in athletics and holds just about every athletics record at his old school (Galen College)... Praying the Saints get access to him for selfish reasons, whole family are North supporters!
Re: Darcy Wilson
Yeah agreed Saint Lee. I was having a beer with his Dad a month ago and he stated that Adelaide are pretty keen on him.Adelaide have been keeping tabs on him the last couple of years, 2 years ago the crows couldnt believe his time/ trial runs he was doing as a 16 yr old . He comes from a great sporting family,Micks brother Joe was on the Eagles & Bears list aswell. Dreaming I No!!

Re: Darcy Wilson
Would love to get him but he will be well gone before our pick, unless we trade up of course.

Re: Darcy Wilson
He’s the perfect midfielder for our needs. He reminds me of a faster goal kicking Nicky Dal Santo. But I don’t think he will slip through to pick #16. Unless a gun kid slips and Adelaide take them and Darcy falls on our lap like Phillipou did last year. I couldn’t believe Essendon took Tsatas over Phillipou. They don’t have any big body mids.

Re: Darcy Wilson
Caleb Windsor the other prospect
Class and speed on outside and tackles we’ll good by foot too
Can’t see him or Wilson getting to us
Still hoping we get creative and move up the order…love a Sanders …

Re: Darcy Wilson
Darcy Wilson sounds perfect for us.
Will pick 13 and 21 be enough to get us a pick in the top 10?
I highly doubt it.

Re: Darcy Wilson
I get the feeling they aren’t looking at swapping 2 picks for 1 in that manner. I think they are going for more quantity of quality cattle, rather than a single piece that may be individually better.

Re: Darcy Wilson
No doubt there will be bargains to be had in later picks because of the covid years which seems to have stifled development or at least perceived development in any case.

Croft and McCabe are both F/S picks that we won’t get access toSaints58 wrote: ↑Fri 27 Oct 2023 5:36pm This is a draft with some real quality bigs in the first 40 there is Will green at pick 21 he is a Ruck 204cm 94kg Northern nights or pick 22 Archer Reid 203cm 94kg KPF Gippsland power pick 26 Mitch Edwards Ruck 206cm 89kg Peel thunder WA,Pick 28 Arie Schoemaker 194 91kg Defender Tassie.

Re: Darcy Wilson
It's interesting to speculate on who we might take in the draft.
Darcy Wilson would be a great get but I agree he will be long gone by the time it's our turn.
Adelaide are super keen on him and their pick is before ours.
Riley Hardeman looks the goods for us if he's still available. A fast, rebounding defender who can also play in the midfield.
Captained WA in the National Championships and played senior footy for Swan Districts.

Re: Darcy Wilson
Seriously doubt we’ll trade up, they seem happy to have 2 first round picks.
I wouldn’t mind seeing us use a couple of our future 3rds to try & snare a pick in the 30’s

Great Idea if we though in our pick 40 with the 2 3rd rounders we could possible get a pick in the 20s which could be really beneficial.

Re: Darcy Wilson
Chances of getting a similar level player at 40 to a pick is almost
The same
It’s a weak draft, very even after about pick 12 - even our two first rounders are not
Only 50 odd will get drafted.
Don’t expect a Phillipou like slider to be around our first pick at 17

Re: Darcy Wilson
I know some people are saying it is but every draft is a lottery. Sometimes kids drafted in the top 10 never make it. Plenty of examples of that. Similarly others who are taken in the 30s and 40s become superstars. I’m confident we’ll select a kid with plenty of upside. He’ll be give opportunities and it’s up to him what he does with them. I also think RTB has more involvement in who we select than many people think.B.M wrote: ↑Thu 02 Nov 2023 10:40pm Chances of getting a similar level player at 40 to a pick is almost

Re: Darcy Wilson
Ross has very little to do with drafting - sits in on meetings and challenges scenarios
But at the end of the day he barely knows the kids getting drafted
Glad you have confidence
Our head recruiter selected Matthew Allison with our first pick (26) in recent years - he was a reach at 26 and after a few years it is obvious why

Re: Darcy Wilson
There are posters on BF suggesting Wilson might now slide through to us - that would be huge if we get a player like Darcy at our pick.
