Operation: Get Mini
Operation get Blighty Mini should be firing on all cylinders right now.
Need to get him to the Saints, in some capacity.
How do we do that and who needs to move to make it happen?

Why?
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

IMO a better coach than Harvey and Hayes, and a possible successor to RTB if he moves to a GM Football role.

I agree. Why? Because he took a premiership player ridden team to a position outside the 8. I don't get the logic. No one even knew he was an assistant at Richmond until given the death seat after Hardwick baled.

I've known for years he was an assistant at Richmond, it just didn't mean anything.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Fri 22 Sep 2023 8:08pmI agree. Why? What was interesting was RTB mentioning, after Mini was appointed caretaker coach for Gale's mob, that he tried to poach Mini from Richmond when he was setting up his coaching staff late last year.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: Operation: Get Mini
Im not sure what device is used to measure assitant coaches....maybe their ability to successfully transition to winning AFL Senior coaches?Otiman wrote: ↑Fri 22 Sep 2023 8:04pmIMO a better coach than Harvey and Hayes, and a possible successor to RTB if he moves to a GM Football role.
Harvs did fail miserably leading Pies to 2 wins from 9 games; he's been knocked back to blow the big whistle by everyone...but he gets high praise everywhere he goes. The fact McRae smashed it the very next season after Harvs left doesnt bode well for his capactity as a senior but he may be the one of the best senior assistants going round?
Mini did pretty good 7 wins from 13 games) with a very tired (mentally & physically) group of players.
But would he improve over the far more experienced Harvs or the club fav Hayes? Maybe Hayes...not sure. Hayes hasn't had a chance yet to coach the big dogs.

Re: Operation: Get Mini
AMcQ is lucky he didn't get the job. Hardwick knows the Richmond list is rubbish for the forseeable. He can follow to the Gold Coast or load up for Eagles, Port or Melbourne jobs in 12 months.

Re: Operation: Get Mini
I was hoping Enright would have got the gig over Lyon looking long term, but Mini would be a good get in some capacity- maybe in place of Lenny or Banger who don't seem to have achieved much as midfield or forward coaches looking at how we played this season.

Re: Operation: Get Mini
Did Banger not achieve much as a forward coach because
King missed 16 weeks and Membrey missed 19 weeks
Or because our mids weren’t dominant
Not sure
Chicken or egg

"Yze is open to Andrew McQualter, who finished runner-up for the job after serving as the caretaker coach, sticking around as his right-hand man, and will speak to Brett Ratten, one of his mentors, about joining him as a senior assistant."

RTB wanted him and woulkd definitely consider him. Problem is there's no room for him under the soft cap.

What's so good about McQualter?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Operation: Get Mini
Being an interim is almost a kiss of death. Richmond used him and then rejected him as soonasit suited.
Trying to remember all the saccharine words their ex pres trotted out about the supported caring environment/culture after winning a premiership. Anyway it was just crap, AFL is a jungle and Richmond no better than any of the other animals.

Re: Operation: Get Mini
Maybe next year, if I recall the assistant coaches need to have contracts in place or shown the door during the season so they can find other jobs.

Re: Operation: Get Mini
Someone in the media suggested he try to get to bulldogs or west coast as the coaches were on shaky ground but it might end up same as Richmond , maybe he’s best coaching his own side at a lower level then go for a top job

The Cats are quietly confident about him joining them.

Re: Operation: Get Mini
X Man joins North Melbourne under Clarko.
I hope Mini and X one day come back to St Kilda. Both gaining experience so we have quality options down the track if the current fab 4 coaching outfit splits up.
