Changing coaches has been a failure, IMHFO.
I probably shouldn't be posting this afternoon after that sickening inept display, but I have seen nothing this year that in any way indicates that RTB is a superior coach in the present time than the contracted one the board sacked.
I really feel for Ratts.

A new coach is like a quick painkiller jab. We saw it first hand today.
Works in the short term but in the long term there's no substitute for actual hard work and development.
Some clubs get addicted to it, and you end up like Carlton.
We tried it the other way (stick true no matter hwat) and we ended up with Richo for 126 games.

Only a failure if you genuinely expected to be playing finals this year.
I feel nothing towards Richo or Ratten, both had their opportunities. Ratten should not have been signed when he was, which was on the Board and Administration.

Not me mate and I don't give a tu'penny f*** if he deletes me from his Christmas card list.
Two f****** goals to half time against a side 16th on the ladder. They don't lead, they don't chase, they don't play in front, not in the back line or anywhere else on the ground ffs and they never man up.
I am as pissed off as I have every been with this side. I normally stick up for the boys but tonight I wouldn't give a s*** if half the side was sacked.
There is something terribly wrong down at Moorabbin and it has spread to the Sandringham side.
There is no selection integrity and Lyon is up to his old tricks of playing favorites irrespective if they have footballing ability or not.

Well said saynta.
Ii'm not an RTB fanboy either, in this year of exploration.
They are finding new ways to be shite, Ratten could have done that.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Thanks mate. That match was hard to watch. Basic errors that even the Roos wouldn't make.
At least we make other sides look good.

Re: Changing coaches has been a failure, IMHFO.
History will show that RTB inherited a side he had little respect for. "I can't take this lot anywhere," if rumours are true.
But the playing group were sure sh*tscared of him,. We've all heard stories of players doing heaps of extra gym work and training in the off-season.
Voila. Season starts and the team plays well above itself. These are the glory days of high fives for RTB as he comes off the ground. CC-packets being handed around.
Seems a century ago now.
Because somewhere along the way the tream started to falter.
Enter "Mulligan" Ross. Still talking the team up. Saying they're giving maximum effort. Inventing excuses. Playing favourites despite conspicuously poor form. Looking very satisfied with himself.
Voila. Mulligan Ross is satisfied with mediocrity so we don't need to be sh*tscared anymore. We can safely return to all our bad habits.
Then comes the season-killing Male Depression Game. (This usually takes 8 weeks to recover from so I if it really has to be a fixture of the season I beg the club to get it over with in Round One next year and spare us another false dawn.)
I used to be an RTB fanboy. I alwasy said that in his first tenure at the Saints there were few if any half-hearted performances.
There have been many this year since Mulligan Ross entered the scene and I've lost the faith.

Re: Changing coaches has been a failure, IMHFO.
Considering he inherited exactly the same team and then that said team has been decimated by injuries we're probably 3 wins ahead of where we should be!
In saying that, losing the same way every week and playing the same style has been frustrating. Clearances, bombing it fwd, questionable team selections etc...

When has it ever worked for us?
Maybe when Alan Jeans replaced Jim Francis.

Only had one bottle of snake oil and used it up early!
Wouldn’t mind the losses if we were playing a more watchable style, but alas!

Shows how well he started then...
5 of our starting fwds have played under 25 games... We're up against it but some of our performances have been so unacceptable.
Really, its hard to judge until he's actually had a pre season with the team, until then who r ewally knows. But they'll definitely be changes come years end.
