If Ross is omitted and Bytel does not get a gig then I think the writing is on the wall for Bytes.

Re: Team vs Brisbane
That’s so upsetting for Bytel. I’m not Bytels biggest fan but he’s been consistent the last two weeks and deserved a call up. Paton had a high possession game in the twos last week but most were freebie kick outs and most of them not really effective. Maybe we brought him in so We stet can shut down Cameron and Paton on Rayner and the rotating Ashcroft.
It’s starting to look like Bytel will go at seasons end and Paddy Dow will be traded in and take over.

Re: Team vs Brisbane
Paton comes in to play on Charlie Cameron, you would think.
So Webster goes from back pocket to half back and Sinclair on ball for the game.
Lyon spoke about last week's game regarding the way they wanted the mids to position themselves at stoppages and that instructions weren't adhered to. It was then corrected at half time. I wonder if Seb Ross was the main culprit .
Sharman is unlucky

Re: Team vs Brisbane
Leth was on SEN (another thread) about Steele having knee/achilles issues.
I suggest if Steele doesn't come up, then Ross replaces him.
If so, Bytel will be sub.

Re: Team vs Brisbane
Steele should be on the managed list, Howard should be at Sandy and Bytel and Sharman should be given consecutive senior games. Not convinced about Lyon

Re: Team vs Brisbane
Steele on the bench as well.
Wonder how long it is before he gets managed?
I think we will get pumped in this game circa a 50 point loss.
I hope I’m wrong. I usually am about predicting results and margins.

Replacing one managed player with another supposed managed player doesn’t make sense but then again who knows.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jun 2023 7:51pm Leth was on SEN (another thread) about Steele having knee/achilles issues.

Re: Team vs Brisbane
I really want to back RTB in but that’s such an uninspiring set of changes. I hate that we go back to the same things
Caminati hadn’t got near it for 2 weeks… give Sharman a go
Had a chance to cement finals spot and Byrnes responded with 10 touches in our biggest game of the year… give Bytel a run
And Paton has been super uninspiring. Good to earn a chance but he he really?

Re: Team vs Brisbane
Paton gets Cameron and should play a lockdown role. I don't care if he gets 0 touches just keep Charlie quiet.
Stocker and Owens to run through the midfield.
Windy head to head with Neale again.
Bytel unlucky - would love to know the reasons.

Re: Team vs Brisbane
The only thing worse than not picking Bytel is picking him because the fans think k he ‘deserves a run’..
Whatever the reason- which we don’t know - is the reason. But it just doesn’t rhyme.

Re: Team vs Brisbane
We need a big bodied midfielder who can impact at stoppages. We don't have any right now. Bytel is as good as it gets based on his VFL form.
Questions asked about if he deserves a spot on the list next year, when better to find out than when we're under the pump in that area.

Now is not the time to try out players
Now is the time to win games
We desperately need to win.
The aim isn’t and never should be to do right by any single player.
It is win at all costs.
Competitive.

Re: Team vs Brisbane
Paton was tried on the wing pre-season , I seem to recall. It might be he will directly replace Seb in the middle as we seek to negate BNE's terrific mid field. At least Pats looks before kicking. Can take a nice mark.

Re: Team vs Brisbane
Seb Ross was lucky to be holding his spot leading into last weeks game, so I think you are right his form and clearance work cost him his place in the side. Pushing Sinclair up as a full time mid is a good move and not before time IMO. We desparately need to even the possessions out of stoppages. If Brisbane get on top in that regard our defensive 6 will struggle to contain their forwards.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Thu 22 Jun 2023 7:45pm Paton comes in to play on Charlie Cameron, you would think.

As far as match ups on Cameron are concerned, I wonder how Stocker would go? Stocker is relatively quick, but most importantly keeps his feet in the contest and is a strong contested mark. Stocker also plays with a bit of swagger which is needed to take it up to Cameron. Webster & Paton have played on him in the past with varying degrees of sucess, but the biggest down fall both of them have is they lose their feet far too often and Cameron then cuts them up.
