Training Friday May 12
Yesterday was probably the sharpest I’ve seen our boys train for some time.
Very slick, running on top of the ground with guys that have been struggling recently, such as Membrey, Steel & Crouch, looking much better.
It would be remiss of me not to mention young Caminiti monstering Josh Battle in a 1 on 1 marking contest!
It was a great one grabber after winning the battle of strength..not easy when Battle is so combative.
Marshall went off early but I dare say he’ll be given right up to Sunday morning before making a call on him!

Thanks Mike its great to hear the lads are looking sharp again. I think the games against Collingwood, Carlton & Port in short sucession took a lot out of their tanks. Hopefully they bring their A game against the Crows.

Re: Training Friday May 12
Someone had mentioned we'd had a pretty hectic training block leading up to last few games so combined with shorter breaks I'm not surprised we've been looking a bit flat after our fast start. I'm guessing they've tapered the training back a bit to freshen the boys up.

So glad we were up for training

Yes it was great to see camaniti do that to battle we all cheered when that happened.
Just before that battle tried to monster camaniti and the kid learnt well.
I don't rate battle he is to loose with the ball and bad decisions.
Cordy much better option down back then him maybe that's why cordy has played over 115 games mostly in defence.

Re: Training Friday May 12
If Cordy was so good at being a defender why hasn't the selection committee and the super coach played him there?
A few things probably. Battle is rated more by our coaches than you think...Plus he's fitter than Cordy...
And finally, I reckon we are struggling to find a player versatile enough (and good enough) to be second ruck. Cordy was only given that role because he's tall

Campbell is too good for VFL. Today 18 or 17 possessions and 33 hitouts.

I agree. I would have played him against Goldstein last week and if he played well, retain him for this week.saynta wrote: ↑Sun 14 May 2023 5:57pmI don't know about that.Scollop wrote: ↑Sun 14 May 2023 4:20pm If Cordy was so good at being a defender why hasn't the selection committee and the super coach played him there?

Marshall would have been handy for those loopy high kicks into our forward line today

Well it certainly didn't translate to game day.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Sat 13 May 2023 12:40pm Yesterday was probably the sharpest I’ve seen our boys train for some time.

Tony74 also gave the heads up that a number of players were very sore.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Sun 14 May 2023 8:31pmWell it certainly didn't translate to game day.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Sat 13 May 2023 12:40pm Yesterday was probably the sharpest I’ve seen our boys train for some time.

Thing is we don't have a good forward line - maybe two class acts with Max making 3.

Re: Training Friday May 12
Marshall didn't train on Friday he ran a few laps and went in the rooms so we should have played a second ruck option like Campbell even as a 23 man he could at least ruck most of the day with Marshall off for such a long period of time.
its not good on Owens to ruck we need him in the midfield.

I wonder if the group may have got ahead of themselves and forgotten that is was hard work that acheived the season start?

Just wonder if the team has lost some of its physical strength going for greater speed and stamina.

Well, Steele said in an interview that Ross the Boss wanted both he and Seb to lose a few kilos. which they have. Maybe that was the wrong advice.

Re: Training Friday May 12
Our strongest 5 include Caminiti, King and Cordy? Haven't played together.
Strength being relative, doesn't fully explain fumbles and poor decision making. Although having considered that can't remember The Rock or Arnie fumbling or being outsmarted.
