Re: Injury update
Poor old Hayes & Coffield would have missed nearly 2 seasons of footy by the time they return.

After the Bye, Sandy might actually start to have a reasonable team.

Unless we have close to zero injuries Sandy is just not going to be good.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 10 May 2023 1:53amon the outer wrote: ↑Tue 09 May 2023 9:37pm Matt Allison Foot Post-bye

They just have too many poor or developing VFL players

Playing for Sandy and struggling - although Keeler has only played the last two games after his long injury lay-off.

Re: Injury update
Thats great news - I think we forget how well McKenzie was going before his injuries. He was having a start to year ala Mason Woods, so if he can get up and firing it will make a huge difference.66Iwasthere wrote: ↑Wed 10 May 2023 1:47pm Good to see Olli Hotton and Dan McKenzie training with main group today
Plus people believe Hotton was a great clearance player in his junior years, and that is definitely something we need at AFL level when he gets going.

Re: Injury update
They both played last week and both looked like the have a way to go. They are a bit off intensity wise, but that will come with experience, confidence and match fitness. Apart from Highmore who never changes, Oscar Adams is the tall defender looking most likely ATM.

Re: Injury update
From Jake Batchelor's review article on saints.com.au:
Isaac Keeler
Nine disposals, three marks, three hit-outs
Isaac had three shots on goal, which is a good rewards when we only had 14 for ourselves. He’s clearly getting into some really good spots, he competed well in the air and took some forward-50 stoppages for us as well.
We’re not throwing him into the deep end too early with ruckwork when we’ve got Max and Tom, but it’s the third game in a row he’s been able to put together and we’re seeing the makings of a good player.
James Van Es
Five disposals, three marks, two rebound-50s
All in all, it was a good game. Similar to Oscar he didn’t stuff the stats sheet, but he communicated with his teammates and he’s improving. He’s got long arms and he’s got great closing speed, so he’s finding his way to get to contests more often.
With the other two key backs, he can improve in protecting our spares down the line and getting out of our shells and own one-on-one match-ups, and that’s something for him to work on going forward.

Re: Injury update
JWeb comes straight back in for Paton, who has been ok but not exactly setting the world on fire.
Hammer is also back from suspension which begs the question does he come straight back in and for who? I think he should come back in. We need more marking options.
Sharman seems the obvious swap but I think he should get a run at it. I think having Sharman Hammer and Membrey forward allows Tim to get a bit more freedom and influence the game. He's getting the first and second tall defenders ATM which isn't helping. Crows have a couple of good tall defenders so we need a point of difference. Also then we can try Owens in the midfield. I want a big body in there as our midfield has been struggling of late.
But then who do we leave out? Rest Gresh perhaps?

Reading above no one comes in from this list IMO
IF changes made likely to be from Billings ( 2 Sandy games now), Bytel and Windy .
Who goes out is the tougher part as many of the usual suspects in previous seasons such as Brynes, Paton, Sharman have all done what is required of them. RL with his positional placement of players i would think sees Paton retain his spot. Byrnes was great last week .
In: Billings (Sub)
Out: Bytel.
Unless someone needs a rest with soreness we are unaware of .
If Camaniti comes bacjk the last in first out may see Sharman in trouble. Some will say Membrey but need the experience in such a hostile environment as Adelaide.

Re: Injury update
Billings won't play if you trust Ross at this weeks presser
Caminiti must play, at the expense of either Sharman or Membrey.
If Membrey is selected and plays poorly will be a long road back for him
Webster was a cheekbone so his return will depend on how much training he's been able to keep up with

Re: Injury update
Better to be cautious with Gresh n rest him, due to his knee+drop in form.
Frees up a spot for Hammer, then can retain Skunk.
Name either Skunk or Hammer on bench maybe.
Windy has to come in.

Re: Injury update
From RTB pressor yesterday Gresham is fine and will be available to play. It was obvious last week we needed another key tall forward so Caminiti has to come in likely at the expense of Sharman, who is really stiff. Webster may need a run in the VFL (although RTB loves him) and Billings hasnt proven he deserves a recall as yet. The fact that we are starting to get pressure on for spots is a major positive going forward.
In: Caminiti
Out: Sharman

Re: Injury update
That’s the question. It’s good that there’s actually players we want to come in but is there a spot for them?WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 11 May 2023 12:52pm Better to be cautious with Gresh n rest him, due to his knee+drop in form.

I think Webster will come in for Paton. In the past it would have been Billings for Byrnes but there’s no way Byrnes is being left out.
I think we need another marking option up forward so Caminiti comes straight in but I’d be leaving Membrey and Sharman in and giving Owens some more midfield time.
Then there’s Windhager, who I’d love in the team but whose place does he take?
Bytel’s doing nothing wrong but probably needs an injury to Steel or Crouch to get a game.
Glad I’m not selecting the team.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.
