14 Wins

Post: # 2007363Post WellardSaint »

I have us at 14 wins.

Beating Tigers, Hawks twice each, beating Norf again, losing to Dees, Cats, maybe Swans, Lions...

Will 14 get us into the 8?

14 wins is 7th based on the last 2 years.

I have us at 15 wins which is top 4 depending on percentage.

Currently at 6 wins:

Wins:
Giants
Hawthorn x2
West Coast
Richmond x2
Gold Coast
North

(gets us to 14)

50/50:
Brisbane home
Carlton
Sydney

(at 50% gets us to 15.5)

Losses:
Melbourne
Geelong
Adelaide
Brisbane away

Any of these is a bonus or recovers from a pencilled in win.

Yes it will get us into the eight easily, but I think we will only win 12 games, which will make it tough.
In our current form we will only beat Hawthorn (twice), West Coast, North, Carlton and Richmond.

We play Richmond 2x so it's 13 wins

Very likely will need 16 or 17 wins to go top 4

15 wins and 8 losses won't cut it

And turning them over ensures top 4

We sure as s*** turned them over in 2012, Pelchen gutted the list and went to the draft

Next decade was ordinary

Too few leaders
Poor list build
key injuries

Turning them over can backfire

Yes, I find it best to take the season a week at a time. A team’s circumstances can change at the drop of a hat.

Agreed. No need to make too many changes and please....No more topping up with small forwards or half back flankers or B grade mids

I think Silvagni has done his job. Stocker and Caminiti have been good additions to the team

We've got a few youngsters in from last years draft who haven't played a game (James Van Es, Olli Hotton and Isaac Keeler).

Just bed those down along with our other under 25's and focus on their development, unless we get someone who is at their peak and elite.

I mentioned under 25's because Coffield, Clark and Paton - all from the 2017 draft- are still 24 years of age. There is improvement in these guys

Silvagni should quit while he's ahead

The club will save a shitload of money and we'll just go with whatever Cal Twomey says on afl.com.au

Confuseus say: person who count eggs as chickens often tempt fate to deliver omelette not roosters. One egg at a time, a watched egg never boils....a set shot 30 in front doesn’t count until the fat lady sings.....etc

What would Confucius say about Higgins missing a set shot from 20 dead in front?

Not going to cut it in a close contest against better opposition. Very much like a singer called Missy singing out of tune 8-)

Pelchen was a deadshit, only trouble was we brought into his hair-brained system.

(re)building a list doesn't happen when you bottom out, it is happening all the time.

Just because you don't go in with early picks doesn't mean you cant find a Wilkie or a Geary.

Most good teams have less than a handful of 'cream' players which are usually from the pointy end of the draft.

We have hopefully learned that you need to make the most of draft and trade every year, and develop what you've got.

It’s a continuous thing

You keep replenishing the bottom and the top takes care of itself

I have a system for continual development

And
You need to use every mechanism available to improve your list

14 wins now seems a bit optimistic, I think it may be more like 10 beating the Hawks twice, Westcoast and North the other teams are either better or in better form and we are a few years away from matching most of them.

We are a chance of dropping Giants, Richmond x2, and GC games - all are must win for us.

How about not getting ahead of ourselves? 8 more wins for that 14 wins seems like a tall order right now.
