Norf... Danger game
We seem a bit cooked .
Clarko will want us on toast .
We will psychologically take it Easy for many reasons .
They have their backs to the wall.
Beware the injured kangaroo.
Forget the percentage booster .
Will be a fight to the death.

I'm going to go early and predict if we don't beat North by 100 points we are no chance of winning the flag this year.

We should all now wear our lucky underwear, or as I like to call them, my weekend jocks.
They either provide good luck or prevent a mess on the lounge room floor.

Re: Norf... Danger game
Won two games: Eagles over here by a point in their new coach's first game. No brownie points for that one. Sorry.
Freo by a point in Perth (a win which looks less convincing by the week).
Nup, this is one we just need to play four quarters and build percentage.

I don’t think we’ll smash them
But we ought to bank these and move on

It will be interesting to see how Clarko approaches this game. The Port approach isn’t really his style.

Re: Norf... Danger game
I don't get it. Why did we seem cooked?
Port won because of the 2 dodgy frees they got in front of goal. One against Wilkie the other against Battle. Ok one dodgy free and the allowance of Powell Pepper to stand next to him when he was told to play on.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Norf... Danger game
Frees themselves weren't dodgy...The pass to Wilke was clearly under 15m, so it was called play on...He tried to sidestep Dixon and was caught holding the ball...Clear free kick.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Wed 03 May 2023 12:50pm I don't get it. Why did we seem cooked?

You could argue that Battle didn't step off his line but was called to play on and was also caught HTB.
So, maybe they were an error on our part and a over zealous call from the ump that was made a number of times on the night.
We had Port on toast early then NWM copped a corkie and Hill also copped a knock and our ability to run the ball quickly stopped and we lost composure going forward. Both those things affected our second quarter.
We went virtually goal for goal in the 2nd half.
That's not a team that's cooked.
We should beat North by at least 8 goals...And we should be aiming to beat them by 12 goals.
We are clearly a 2-3 goal/quarter better team than they are.
I'd be tempted to give Tom Campbell a run and use Marshall forward more as a target as Cordy is not the forward target we hoped...He is a back-up defender that is a makeshift forward.
I think Campbell might want to prove something against the team that dumped him.

Re: Norf... Danger game
Well said Life Long.
The only danger this game should pose is adding to our injury list.
Windy to play a full game at Sandy. Bytel to play a full AFL game & let Phillipou rest as our sub.
The interest will be what happens with Cordy. Does he get one more week before "Kid" Caminiti comes back? OR, as Life Long alludes, Campbell gets an opportunity OR Sharman?

10 goal + win if we're serious.
I don't think Ross will let them slack off.

Re: Norf... Danger game
Not being able hold a tackle was alarming. Also some uncharacteristic gaping holes in the zones (grid?) on more than a few occasions.
As far as the slipped tackles go it might also have been the players worrying about slinging; maybe that is part of what RTB alluded to with the "very coachable" comment. Perhaps he warned them about slinging and how hot the area currently is and they went a bit too soft. Either that or tiredness..
Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

Exactly. I posted the same opinion although I got one of the maggot victims wrong.magnifisaint wrote: ↑Wed 03 May 2023 12:50pm I don't get it. Why did we seem cooked?

Disgraceful umpiring by little men who have no feel for the game IMHFO, that is.

Re: Norf... Danger game
If we get knocked over by North we are pretenders.
Time for a live kill.
They’ll (North) will be competitive for the first 1.5 quarters then will not maintain the rage.
Saints by 50+ points and maybe more.

Re: Norf... Danger game
Precisely the attitude the team should have.
Sure, we are going in as warm favourites, but they should never rest on their laurels. Complacency is never ideal in this game. Let’s hope the players stick to Lyon’s game plan and respectfully beat North.

Re: Norf... Danger game
As an outsider, I suggest that all our previous coaches were far too confident of their own abilities and had the collective heads in the sand.
I base this on the reactions to Marc Murphy vs Carlisle, the way we lost games we should've won, the way they insisted on playing Weller/Newnes and others.
Other reasons too.
I believe the crew we have are far more 'real-world' and honest in their footy experiences, and their own abilities, and have created a great relationship with the boys under their care.

Re: Norf... Danger game
If Uniake doesn't play, and he was going to have a test before training thus afternoon, we should be trying to win this by 75 points +.

Be interested how forward inefficiency is tackled and Jack Steele's form.

Re: Norf... Danger game
Yorkeys mentioned Steele's form.
How did I forget that?
The coaches put him in too early, I think.
He could've rested another week because his post-game chat to Cripps had him looking at his shoulder and shrugging, as if to say to Cripps 'nah, it's still not right' or something.
Bytel could've played. Steele risked further injury.
Yet they boot Walsh for some reason, while they make a risky call.
Membrey came back early but Hammer was out...
