Re: Round One news...
""Ross Lyon will face his former side Fremantle to begin his second stint with St Kilda as the Round 1 fixture for the 2023 AFL season is revealed.
After departing the Dockers in 2019, Lyon will face Justin Longmuir's side in the final game of the opening round of next season as he looks to steer the Saints back toward the top.
That match will be held at Marvel Stadium at 4:40pm (all times AEDT) on Sunday, March 19.""

Terrible time slot, but we should start the season with a win. Lets hope we get a far more favourable draw this year.

Re: Round One news...
It was always going to be Freo, wasn't it?
Well, to be fair, FOX pay a premium for content. They can't always be given North Melbourne vs Gold Coast Suns, or West Coast Eagles vs the Giants (or us vs Melbourne).
I would say that levels of interest in this game will be as high as any and I am really looking forward to it.
It will be a bit of a challenge for us, because we do match up well on each other and games are always hard won.
I am not unhappy with it, to be brutally honest, and if it isn't a great time for people due to family commitments or whatnot, watch it on TV with tea on the couch and watch the Saints come marching in.

Anytime, anywhere...bring it on!!!
We will get better time slots when we get better. In the meantime, make lemonade.
Is it really only 105 more sleeps? Cannot wait.

Sunday twilight against a interstate team good to see some traditions live on
Hope Mattaes Phillipou doesnt debut in this game, not quite his dream of playing in Melbourne in front of big crowds

Yeah. It'd be bloody miserable if 60k members turned up. 'Hell frozen over' type stuff.Sebastian Tombs wrote: ↑Sun 04 Dec 2022 12:38pm Sunday twilight against a interstate team good to see some traditions live on

If we played Collingwood in front of 78000, the same 18k would be there.

Welcome to St Kilda Ross!
Well, that’s where our 20 million AFL subsidy comes from!!
My euphoric delicious delirium bubble has received its first pin prick of reality!
Would have loved Thu Fri a Sat Arvo or even Sunday Arvo game, before the other results were all in..
Nevermind
Well here it is. Here we go.
(PS If it were at the JO at least some Sunday market scones would be available, and the patrons could wander in)

New improved Marvel.
Will know margin needed to go top.
New pregame entertainment.
No COVID checks.
Qantas will have lost Freo's baggage and damaged their studs.
Plenty to look forward to.

Curly,
I wonder when they decide the umpires?
This will be good.
Freo think they’re the goods.
But we are goodest.

Re: Round One news...
An injury-free St Kilda should easily account for Freo ... over here (and even over there, as we saw last year when we were injury free).
With Hayes, Harvey and Goddard's support ... it should be in the bag.

Re: Round One news...
Did they beat us at Marvel this year?
They are a well coached good team
50-50 game
Most will expect Freo to win.

Re: Round One news...
Doesn't matter where the respective teams are on the ladder. We are both evenly matched personnel wise.chook23 wrote: ↑Sun 04 Dec 2022 10:29amHope we win rather than should win gameImpatient Sainter wrote: ↑Sun 04 Dec 2022 8:49am Terrible time slot, but we should start the season with a win. Re: Round One news...
Yep there a well coached team with arguably a better sqaud
What I find interesting and often over looked is Longmuir's record is similar to Ratts
Look out kids, they keep it all hid

Jack Hayes, mature body, played lots of SANFL, Rd 1 this year.

Re: Round One news...
This time slot means we must meet our opponent in round 2 off a shorter turnaround.
The start of another horror fixture??
