The Saints walked around the corner to the local athletics track for the dreaded race against the clock with Marcus Windhager getting the nod of approval from the new coach for taking out the victory. “Marcus Windhager won the time trial so great to see a young player really stamping himself on the group,” Lyon said.

4. THE ‘HUMAN TOLL’
Lyon hasn’t spoken to Brett Ratten, but he will address the issue of the sacking of the former coach in his opening address to the playing group on Monday afternoon. “I will address the players for the first time today, and I think it is important to acknowledge context and not just pretend there has been no tumultuous period here because there has. But my job is to pick us up and get us moving and move us forward as a club. The human toll, it can be really hard AFL football and there is certainly empathy there but we haven’t got the luxury of just sitting back and dwelling, we have to get moving and get into action.”

It’s going to be tough for the Sainters. Maybe Ross should do a repeat of 2016 and set us up for 2025

I reckon we can beat Essendon and Carlton. Adelaide..no vibe and Gold Coast is a worry.

16 at training from a squad of 42 after the players have had nearly 3 months away. It's obviously worth asking the question. Why?!
The excuse that it's a long season is rubbish. Flags are often won in pre season. Surely 26 players aren't out injured already after 3 months off. To be honest if it was Ratts still coaching I'd be furious because my belief is that he was being too soft on them. I have more confidence that Ross won't take that crap but I'm still bewildered. Maybe T74 could explain. Am I missing something?

Harves was famous for working hard on the track.
I can't imagine him nor Hayes letting this happen unless there was a very good reason

Isn't it only supposed to be the 1st-4th year players back at training this week?

Geelong had a full squad turn up to their first training even though they didn’t have to. Says plenty about the mindset of both playing groups tbh.

Not a bad way to just let the dead wood reveal themselves through lack of commitment. Way too many players coasting on this list.

Good to see we're able to make comments about what's going on without any knowledge of what's actually going on.

Maybe there are plans in place for certain players to be doing certain things?
Maybe they're not all training on the same day at the same time?
Maybe they're doing training at other locations, either within RSEA or at outside places?

Unlike some, I'm prepared to let those in charge run the operation without my criticism until there comes a time when I feel they deserve to be criticized.
I'm not into just bagging the Club to make myself feel important/better.

Nobody cares about cricket nowadays, especially the players, it's now just a get rich scheme for the greedy.
