POLL Y or N- happy for Ross to be our guy again?
Ok folks, poll runs for 2 days.
Just curious about how you guys/girls/other pronouns are feeling about the extraordinary recent events...
You can change your vote after submitting, if you like
It's a Saints thing, to be able to change your mind.
Like umm, extending a coach's contract ?
Anyway, it's anonymous, so don't worry.

Not against it, though I’d be happy with others also.

Would be an unmitigated disaster.
Of Watters proportions.
So that's a no.
Hopefully it's all uninformed speculation that he is seriously in consideration.
A risk too big to take.

Re: POLL Y or N- happy for Ross to be our guy again?
MIxed feelings for me. On one hand, it seems like we've been in cruise control doing 95km when the speed limit is 100 for the past 10 years. RL will get us going over the speed limit so we'll pass some others but we could crash and burn as well.
I also don't like the guy. I hate the way he left and the state that the list was in when he left. But I also don't see the point in trying yet another inexperienced or recycled coach with a mediocre record and an impressive power point presentation. If we keep going down our current path we end up like North Melbourne of the past 20 years - utterly mediocre.
So overall I'm eager to get Lyon signed even though I don't like him as a person and it will be tough to warm to him again. I do think he'll bring uncompromising standards and a level of tactical intelligence that we haven't had for a decade. The mental lapses in games and inability to perform in marquee games shows that we've been a mentally weak team for quite a while now.

Re: POLL Y or N- happy for Ross to be our guy again?
It's a no from me.
Why? I'm a big believer in stats. Anyone who is close to footy should be.
The only coaches at their second (or third) clubs to win premierships in the AFL era are:
- 1992, 1994, 2010 Mick Malthouse - (Didn't win with Footscray, did win with WCE and Collingwood, did nothing with Carlton)
- 1995 David Parkin (the only one in the AFL era to return to the same club and win a flag)
- 1997 Malcolm Blight
- 2001, 2002, 2003 - Leigh Matthews
And that's it. Since 2003 only Mick Malthouse has won a flag at a second club.

Yes
Hes a proven coach - good on match day
Trains the team hard
Has high expectations
Is ruthless

Re: POLL Y or N- happy for Ross to be our guy again?
I would prefer a younger, more hungry coach along the lines of McRae or Longmuir over Lyon who to me is yesterday's man. If he takes on the job, then I want to see success, and not another losing GF result as the end result. He has a habit of that.

A NYes from me. I'm coming around, and it's not because of his coaching so much.
The one thing I've always credited him for is we finally managed to get over our soft tissue injuries, which plagued us under GT.
We have had bad injury runs under both AR and BR.... perhaps RL will make a difference in this key area.

Really, what do they know that we don't?
Lyon is a big fail in the popularity contest but who cares. If they had beaten Hawthorn in that GF they would be hailing him.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

And what happened the year after, and then the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that ... which became too much and ended up getting him sacked?
Freo had seen enough.

Re: POLL Y or N- happy for Ross to be our guy again?
Maybe our other GF teams could have kicked a quick few goals and stopped a few opposition goals, and we would have won more premierships. It means nothing.
