The list is not a catastrophe.

Players aged 27 and under.

Paton Howard Wilkie
Sinclair Battle Coffield
Clark Windhager Wanganeen-Milera
Butler Hayes Billings
Higgins King Sharman

Marshall Steele Gresham

Jones Owens Highmore Connolly

That is a team that doesn't require a rebuild. It's a team that needs a few exciting youngsters to add to it. The right strategy from here is to go to the draft and bring in more young guys similar to the crop we brought in last year

I like it however I'd start Owenns and you need in include McKenzie & Hayes. So maybe Billings and Butler miss

Rebuilding means moving on a lot of players who are not going to get us up the ladder, combined with good recruiting, and blooding younger players, and seeing we have had two seasons of fading out and going nowhere, then you would expect more than just tinkering around the edges. There's quite a few problems to solve, and I just wonder what the review will come up with.

Long term plan.

Tank for two to three years.

Reload with Lenny Hayes as senior coach.

Whoops. Missed McKenzie. Definitely in the starting 18.

It seems we're the whipping boys of the trade period. So be it. We're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

You'd swear we're worse off than North Melbourne the way the media hoard and the naysayers on here seem to suggest.

The gifts keep arriving at Richmond and Geelong and there's little anyone else can do about it. Brisbane has two father/sons arriving. Can't compete with that.

The endless media narrative around Geelong and Richmond influences players' perceptions, and the topline players who want to leave their clubs only want to go to a club with a clear chance of winning the flag. The carry on about Geelong's good management gets a bit nauseating when all they're doing is opening the door to whoever is banging on it. And don't tell me about players playing for less to be at Geelong. There are creative ways of getting around the salary cap. It's easy when no one at AFL headquarters is even looking. Don't want to spoil a positive narrative, do we?

We're up against it when former club legends and coaches keep potting our club in the media, and the brain dead supporters who get on radio and stick the boots in with no evidence relating to their insane accusations, just because they're frustrated and lacking perspective.

So, it's off to the draft and in my mind it's the right course. We've brought in plenty from other clubs in recent times. It's time to grow our own.

Do you want to see less than 20 wins in the next 66 games

Without any guarantee of success

So, you're putting us in the bottom 4 for the next three seasons. I'd love to see you watching our games, willing our team to lose because that will make your incessant negativity feel vindicated

I want us to win as many games as possible

While continuing to build the list capable of playing finals

Using every avenue available to bring in talent

I don't think so. If we can have a bit of luck and get full seasons out of JB, Gresh, DMac, and Hunter we will win more matches than we lose - provided we get a fair fixture befitting our ladder position (10th).

Had we had those four playing in the final home games against the Lions and the Swans I think we may well have beaten both of them, given how close we got to both of them in the last quarter. We're not far away now - our previous three seasons have seen us win 55% of our matches. That is not a terrible result, and we won 9 games in 2019 before that. We are not a basket case on the field. Ratts has a winning percentage of over 52%.

Injuries to key players and they don't all have to be stars, can have a major impact on our fortunes next season. If we can finally have a bit of luck in that space, I believe we will win the necessary 12 matches and have a percentage of over 105% which would do enough to see us back in the finals. At the end of that day, we should be building a list who have experience winning, so we should continue to draft in top end talent, only bring in proven players through trades and do it that way.

I really want us to hold on to Hill and Clark now, and given North's situation, I think it's highly likely we will.

If we played the bottom 2/3 teams next year twice for example, that would also change things significantly.

I say stick to our horses..and feed them amphetamines. encourage them.

Rebuilding worked when there were not expansion clubs with advantages.

Teams like North, St K and Footscray…are out of step with it.

Unfortunately, Geelong will continue to get the cream of trained players out of expansion clubs.

But somehow our traders, like miracle weapons, will find a way.

It would be nice to know where the hunger and desire to win went to in the second half of this season...and last season as well. If we can't identify and correct that, then we are in a bit of trouble

Lost a bit of form, lost a few players (esp Steele) and ran into some good teams

Every time you play footy - whether it’s C Grade Ammos or AFL - players play with desire.

Confidence is another thing… if you lose confidence, you second guess, which leads to disaster.

Lost has holes but not rebuild category. Missing a key back and another ruck and another gun mid but other areas are ok. Not sure how the sandy guys are coming along the ruck and kpd but our mids will be great I’m 2023. NWM Owens and windhager are going to be guns

Not saying we will play finals but I’m expecting a better season

No we don’t need to rebuild. We could do with a couple of matchwinners, though, and are lacking a bit of quality that a superstar midfielder could provide.

I think the first thing that needs to be addressed is the goal-to-goal line, the spine. If we can get that right or at least better we could play finals as soon as 2023 if we have a half decent run with injury.

We play with dare we worry teams. We play cautiously and it plays into the opposition's hands. That should be the main lesson from 2022

These players can all get better

King
Wanganeen-Milera
Owens
Windhager
Sharman
Hayes
Clark
Coffield
Higgins

I'm not predicting a massive leap. But there's genuine scope to move up 3 positions on the ladder

It's a tough question ATM our list is barely top 10 .Lots of injury prone maybe's & in a parallel universe if those players stay on the park & play to their supposed potential then we may be top 8 potentially , but no big in's has me thinking we will be treading water again next year . In the words of Paul Keating it might just be the rebuild we need to have

Hey Nexus,

You should come clean and declare that you’ve already made up your mind

The words ‘admit’ and ‘need’ show me you think you already have the answers

Should you admit you’ve written off most of our list?

Should you admit you are clueless?
