Long Trade
We picked up Long with pick 25 in 2016. Suns have pick 25, so fair trade would be a direct swap IMO. Pick will probably drop 1, so 26.

Yep, if they’re willing to offer him $600k, they can cough up!

Lipinski made way for Coolingwoods sins with that long haired coke sniffing nuffie Smith. Bulldogs couldn't match what Collingwood offered. Collingwood pulled off a f****** cracker.

Re: Long Trade
If GC are willing to pay him 600k then surely they rate him and would ante up ..... mid 20s pick would be around the mark ..... surely we stick fat with this

Re: Long Trade
What are the chances that Long finds consistency at GC?
He never found it with us ...... why with them?
Let's face it Long is or was the poster boy for us being a middling team ..... decent game ..... unsighted ....... half decent ....... unsighted ....... reserves ........ rinse and repeat

Re: Long Trade
Keep him
If that’s not going to happen he’s got to go for something good in return - I’d tell them to put pick 25 where the Sun doesn’t shine and offer him a decent contract

Re: Long Trade
It will be interesting to see if Long gets put under the same scrutiny by the MRP in the guernsey as he does wearing a Saint’s one.

Talk about hashtag enigma
Anything possible I would guess.
From B&F to permanently in the reserves.
How good he looks just jogging down the forward flank boundary sometimes with a nice pass.
All we can say is that he was not a game breaker for us. He laid lots of tackles as a forward, and sometimes they resulted in frees and goals.
He didn’t cut through the lines.
But still, there is the freak factor still in him, so who knows?

Will be interesting to see how they use him.
Long never really found a position with us. Wonder what GC have in mind.

With Rankine looking set to go, probably in the forward line.

Re: Long Trade
I had exactly the same thought and I think we know the answer!
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

GOld Coast Fan forum:
1) Of course if he’s only coming up for the dough like a few others, we might see the “Atkins” version unfortunately.
2) Didn’t watch this rd 23 game - but it was very good performance by the look of it
3) (response to 2) Lots of seagulling around half back in a loss, after Battle and Clark both didn't finish the game. Massive outlier game, only had more than 16 disposals one other time during the season.

Re: Long Trade
I was ecstatic at Ben Long's last game. I felt he had finally found his place in the side, and cemented it in.
Anyway, if we have to, can we package him up with our first round pick and get Ben King back to Moorabbin in return.
I might feel OK about it then.

Re: Long Trade
Pick 25 would be an incredible result. More realistic might be we give them a third rounder and Long for 25

A bit like Dunstan the year before that type of motivation is not sustainable for delivering good performance on a consistent basis which GC might find out the hard way if they are willing to pay overs.
Personally the figure of 600k being mention on the socials seams like BS however the world has truly gone mad if that type of money is available for spuds.
He'll walk for a third rounder at best but could be a 4th rounder realistically.
