The Finnis Legacy
The club run by nice men.
The club that backed in Richo for almost 6 years.
The club that panicked and squandered pick no. 1 on McCartin.
The club that has played finals once in the last 11 years.
The club that after 11 years, still isn’t good enough, but at least they try.
Tell me, at what point should we realistically expect more?

Re: The Finnis Legacy
I think the culture is the problem.
The club’s evolution over the last 10 years is to accept mediocrity, because being good AFL citizens seems to be a higher priority than contending.

Re: The Finnis Legacy
Was Finnis at the club when we picked McCartin?

Re: The Finnis Legacy
Yes, read Emma Quayles article, Finnis has input into why we should pick him.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Matt Finnis is the Chief Executive Officer of the St Kilda Football Club. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer in March 2014, succeeding interim CEO Terry Dillon.

Finnis is part of the problem ( a big part as is the whole management, board, recruitment, etc)
The coaches are part of the problem
The players are part of the problem
The culture is part of the problem
Yes, all of these HAVE improved in the past 2 - 5 years but still so far from that desparation & fiery passion a club needs that it's willing to chop off arms if it means life ( coaches, players, systems).
It's quite hard to get it all right. Hence one Grand Final Winner per season. More than half the clubs are right now as lousy if not worse.
But we can't live off excuses, comparison or placate the needed to bring life to this club.
Constant plates of sh1te served up and all is forgiven if we go on a run of beating weaker, injury plagued or just generally munted teams...except now we're the munted ones ....can't even beat a bottom team.

Re: The Finnis Legacy
The clowns who were part of the decision NOT to appoint Mark Williams set off a series of blunders that have resulted in us being in the wilderness up until 2020
Finnis screwed us by not getting rid of Richo and having underperforming football coaches, development coaches and underperforming recruiters in place for too long.
Lethlean and Finnis went for the quick fix with a bunch of imports and unfortunately they failed there too

This is pretty rich coming from some guy from Sydney who doesn’t even buy a membership.SydneySainter wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 10:12pm The club run by nice men.

Not to mention, Matt Finnis has done a stellar job as CEO! Not sure how he can be the one to be held accountable for these on-field issues

Re: The Finnis Legacy
He’s tried to make us this lovey dovey pillar of society club.
Every single bit of my business as a paid up member to oppose this s*** and just demand on-field excellence.
I don’t care if they have to be a pack of c***ts.
The time has come to be absolutely ruthless.
Or continue to be happy being the leagues punching bag.

Re: The Finnis Legacy
For the reasons that I outlined above. I fail to see what me not being a paid up member has to do with it?Sainternist wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 11:45pmThis is pretty rich coming from some guy from Sydney who doesn’t even buy a membership.SydneySainter wrote: ↑Sat 25 Jun 2022 10:12pm The club run by nice men.
