I'm glad Carlton lost but.......
.....it makes it even more difficult for us to make the top 8. All the results lately have been going against us. Especially the filth beating the Dees.
We just have to beat the Bombers. I'll be happy even with a 1 point win.

St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

Re: I'm glad Carlton lost but.......
If we are any good, we'll win, Essendope have been woeful this year.
I'm just not overly confident, purely because i'm relying on St Kilda to win.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: I'm glad Carlton lost but.......
I'm not interested in scraping into the 8 like we did in 2020.
Top 4 or bust.
The 8 points from the Brisbane loss may go down as the reason we miss.

Love your optimism - but are we better than:
- Brisbane
- Melbourne
- Fremantle
- Carlton
on a sustained basis???
We face a very hard run home:
- Essendon
- Swans
- Carlton
- Fremantle
- Bulldogs
- Eagles
- Hawks
- Geelong (away)
- Brisbane
- Swans

Be very happy with a top eight finish given our opponents.

Doubt we will make the eight just finding it difficult to kick goals but on the bright side we will be looking at a top ten draft pick and have already seen a lot of good signs from our young up and comers so the future looks promising

Re: I'm glad Carlton lost but.......
Collingwood has a super-soft draw. Richmond too. Gold Coast also super soft.
If we can make it in to the 8, we can beat them in the elimination finals.
I’d rather be playing a Collingwood, Gold Coast, even Richmond, than a Port Adelaide in an elimination final.

For sure.
Though, it sounds like a few want us to lose to prove a point!

Let me get this straight Ernie So you’re telling me if certain sides lose and we keep winning we will make the 8 ? I’ve had a good think about that ….it’s a radical concept but you may be onto somethingSunnyErnie wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022 11:00pm .....it makes it even more difficult for us to make the top 8. Swans way and Geelong away are very tough, but not impossible.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Fri 17 Jun 2022 10:08amLove your optimism - but are we better than:

I expect us to win the other eight games with allowance for maybe one surprise loss.
That will see us finish on at least 15 wins for the season and comfortably in the eight.
We hit hit the finals battle hardened and ready.

Re: I'm glad Carlton lost but.......
If we lose, it will actually be better for us than a loss to Blues or Swans.
Why?
Because Blues or Swans beating us, shows Ratts that we're close and just need a game plan tweak.
Lose to the Imjectors, and it's a reality check.
Ratts was ok after the Brissy game, he thinks injuries hurt us.
I think our problems are worse- small fwd experiment has failed.
Needs Sharman to draw a defender away from Max.

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Re: I'm glad Carlton lost but.......
The books have the Bombers at $4.00+, so it should be a stressless night.
In 1963, we lost 5 games out of 18 and only finished 4th, and that was a near thing, because on the scores at three quarter time in round 18, we were 5th. We kicked 9 goals 4 behinds to 1 behind in the last quarter to make the four on percentage from Essendon. As it turned out, we lost the first semi to Melbourne by 7 points on their home ground. As with the previous week, we came home like a train but kicked 4 goals 8 behinds to 1 goal 3 behinds. Sound familiar?
The five games that we lost during 1963 were to Melbourne (59 points at the G), Geelong (43 points at Geelong), Hawthorn (4 points), Footscray (4 points) and Carlton (2 points). We might easily have won 16 games.
It was an even year - just like this one, as long as Melbourne have their full back and ruckman out anyway. Back in the 60s, we generally won the games we were "supposed" to win - and by a good margin. Our percentage was always one of the best because our backline kept teams to low scores. That's the task tonight. Start with speed, get on top and grind them into the ground.

If we win tonight and beat Carlton in 2 weeks I think we’ll finish above them.
