Hind & Dunstan!
A few people thought we would live to regret getting rid of these two but their form at the moment would say otherwise,I do acknowledge Hinds great season last year but with our new found depth it seems the decisions made are ok to date!

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
There’s absolutely no doubt that we got unders for Hind and regardless of his things went... he should have stayed on the list ahead of a few others we kept.
That fact that we’ve got great cover across HBF softens the impact but it still wasn’t great management
Dunstan I didn’t really care for until his recall last year.
All I’d say about Luke is we’d get better value with him on the list then Hannebery though the latter had a contract.
Dunstan may provide value for them yet if the Demons get a lot of injuries

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
We should have kept Hind instead of Kent.
St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
Both of them are classy VFL players.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
Re: Hind & Dunstan!
Sometimes the interests of the player are put first - including opportunity to play at the level
Hind, Parker, Young et al plugged a hole with the demographics of our List at that time
Then there was Wilkie
Ditto Acres where there was no reason apart from the view a return to his home State would benefit his development
Dunstan left for a reasons perculiar to Dunstan - as Howard left Porr Adelade for very particular reasons (and not as speculated)
It happens

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
Obviously both can play, but salary cap dictates we have to lose players of quality sometimes.
Look at the firesale at Collingwood.
We are 1 gun midfielder (Taranto) short of a good side, Jones and Billings and Clark to come back, still Highmore and Sharman in the wings.
List management going ok at the moment

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
I think both players have good AFL attributes (Hind = pace, Dunstan = stoppages)
But both have gaps in their game (Hind = decision making and consistency, Dunstan = offensive spread and defensive spread)

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
Dunstan made a mistake chosing Melbourne. He clearly isn't capable of playing in a top 4 midfield let alone playing in this Melbourne midfield.
The big question for mine is; would he be getting a game in the Suns midfield?
The Suns aren't far off playing finals and so it would seem a no-brainer for Dunstan to choose the Suns over the Dees. He'd at least be a chance of getting a game up there you'd think.

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
The most puzzling thing with Hind was we tried to turn him into a forward, when his best footy previously was half back & wing.
This when we already had other small forward options.
I also thought we got rid of Parker and Mayo pre maturely…Mayo was only at the club 5 minutes, did his knee and shown the door!!
Parker struggled with the iso in Noosa, should have been given another year.

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
Definitely not good enough for the Sun's midfielders. The Sun's have a lot of elite disposers of the footy. Unfortunately Dunstan wouldn't fit in.Vortex wrote: ↑Mon 18 Apr 2022 6:37am Dunstan made a mistake chosing Melbourne. Hind didn't have a great game against the Dockers. There's daylight between Sinclair and Hind

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
I’m loving the amount of questioning about the list and decisions made in the past 2 years, while we are sitting 4-1 and in 4th spot on the ladder. 1 delisting or trade does not define the whole list.

What was the reason for Howard Killa? You can be as vague as you want to protect the innocent, the children and your sauces.Killa wrote: ↑Sun 17 Apr 2022 11:38pm Sometimes the interests of the player are put first - including opportunity to play at the level

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
Dunstan left with sour grapes
Said he wouldn’t play at StK even if they offered him a contract and would rather work on a building sit with Gilbo. He hated even going to Moorabbin to work and was glad to leave. Hates Ratten.

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
Hind is too small (height and strength) and Dunstan butchers the ball. The only thing worse than not getting the ball is getting it and giving it straight to your opponents. Speaking of which, the most interesting stat from the game on Saturday was that almost all of our goals came from clearances and almost all of their goals came from turnovers. Our game is very much like Melbourne's - except for the turnovers.

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
You may have heard Matt Finnis interviewed on radio before the Suns' game.
It was a friendly enough tone but they asked him some searching questions.
As part of one reply he said the review conducted a while ago identified where improvement in players hence performance was/needed to come from.
The ones that consistently performed were obviously keepers (eg Membrey, Steele: week in week out great performances; those with youth and potential to improve were also marked as keepers, the rest were marked for trade.
Hind and Luke were ones that while acknowledges as AFL standard, were marked as not being part of the future/finals campaigns i.e. no improvement there as far as team performance was concerned, for Saint Kilda.
Hence let them go find a niche. Nothing personal just part of a new harder nose, future orientated strategy.
If you want to rid yourself of something you don't haggle, too much.

Re: Hind & Dunstan!
That's interesting. Watching first crack, the only Core Four measure Melbourne were not good with was clearances but dismantled GWS with and without the ball.perfectionist wrote: ↑Mon 18 Apr 2022 11:56am Hind is too small (height and strength) and Dunstan butchers the ball. Despite the fear off Witts and the GC young guns we almost evened the tap outs and took the clearances.
We are ranked 4 with clearance over all. Melbourne are 9th.
Our stats are actually very similar to Brisbanes. Noting we are average at rebounds and inside 50's but we are strong defensively and and extremely effective when inside 50.
We are controlling the ball and holding possession and scoring from turnovers, now we add scoring from clearance. Thats exciting.
It appears that better fitness translates to better skill.
I can't see GWS matching us on current form.
Dunstan believes he was being played out of position and set out to prove a point. He did and left. Although I'm not sure he would have maintained that form for much longer.
His skill and fitness weren't that reliable. He had quite a break from the elite standard when he eventually got a chance.
