Roos Debt Free
So where does it now leave the Saints?
NORTH Melbourne is an AFL pauper no more, with the Kangaroos debt free for the first time in almost 35 years.
Often the talk of merger and relocation speculation, North heading into the black is a significant achievement for the once-cash strapped battlers.
The Kangaroos rejected a lucrative deal to relocate to the Gold Coast in 2007. Turning down the record package from the AFL split opinions of many, but the bold decision has paid off.
It is the first time the club has been debt free since 1987. Despite COVID interruptions, a bottom-placed finish, and, for the main, crowdless stadiums in 2021, the club has just recorded its 13th profit from the past 14 seasons.

Re: Roos Debt Free
Now they will just mhave to borrow or be uncompetitive. Being debt free when interest rates are lowest is a bit daft for a going concern.
Its amount and serviceability and use that matter.

Better off being 12 Million in debt with low interest rates…
Yep, that makes sense?!

Don't disagree because of the relationship between interest rates, NPV and IRR, but it really depends on their expected cash flows.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Can't accountants make adjustments ?
I mean clubs depreciate their assets, write stuff off...I can't tell if a loss is extraordinary or not a lot of the time...maybe they just got Arden St., revalued at post-Covid mad prices....??
And they are on 'the drip' so to speak...the AFL drip?
Anyway, I am pleased for them..that they've managed to survive and still be in North Melbourne. Way back in '99 or '96 Pagan said in his acceptance speech, he said, I kid you not - and he had barely ten seconds to say anything, he squeezed it in, he found time to say that 'many in the AFL admin were really hoping we wouldn't win this'....and I don't doubt him for a moment. The AFL rationalists wanted North gone.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

You’re confusing taxation with banking or debt servicing of a commercial loan and while they usually need property or assets as collateral to secure the loan, they are two very different things.

Re: Roos Debt Free
I seem to remember a club that ran up a lot of debt with low interest rates by relocating to a southern suburb in the 1960s.
Then in the 1970s POLTICAL COMMENT DELETED caused interest rates to skyrocket.
By the start of the 1980s that club was virtually bankrupt, players were not getting paid etc.
Was it 5 cents in the dollar that a Foxy man offered to creditors to prevent the club being extinguished.
Debt that can not be quickly repaid is bad at any time.
Bad management and debt are the two biggest causes of businesses going bust.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Honestly this has me f***ed.
Has a girlfriend but likes to get dressed up in woman's clothes.
Does he want to be known as a man or a woman?
Obviously he's damned confused.
You couldn't imagine him/her coaching now. Nobody could take it seriously.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

I don’t get it either, but my milleniel kids would say it’s his/her right to express his or hers sexuality in any way they see fit.
I guess if it makes him/her happy then….,,,

Re: Roos Debt Free
We may still have debt but our facility will be 5 x times what they have. We will have a grand stand for VFL games, the Danny Frawey Centre and a real connection to our region via the Dragons and our AFLW side.
Given the move back to Moorabin and Covid we are in a far better financial situation than anyone could have envisaged.
