The Hawthorn loss was the END of an era that had seen us almost win a flag.

But the difference with this loss is we haven't had an era to end it.
Maybe a stillborn era?

It showed me that Tim Watson was a terrible coach.

We don't have many good draft picks in 2021 either. They'll all be at the arse end which causes our recruiters to look for chaff.

It was a massive cliff, although it did set up a new era.

We were in a prelim only 5 years later with an absolutely cracking list.

I just don't want to wait another 5 years, it has been long enough.

No. It was interesting we got so close.

A side with Lonie, Long, Coffield, Hunter and Butler in it and terribly out of form Battle and Bytel (is he up to it actually?) can't win: especially with so many first choices out, the hopeless travel arrangements, the injury to Clark and the absurdity of thinking AFL football can be played in tropical conditions.

It took Adelaide a long time to wind up, we almost got a winning break but you cannot cheat fate and it doesn't want us to win this year.

There is an upside. It cannot now be seriously disputed - if it was previously - that all the players mentioned above, except for poor Clark, have to go as soon as it is practical, they are not up to it.

Coffield, unfortunately to my way of thinking, has the heart like a pea. The others do not have the physical and mental attributes to play in the firsts. And possibly pea sized hearts.

The trip home will be so awful for poor Hunter Clark; McKay should get 6 weeks. Wonder if he will even be cited. Ratts trip will only be slightly less uncomfortable but he can start on his delisting list.

The people on here that have been denigrating Luke Dunstan rather manically, while obviously disappointed he played so well and made them look foolish, are no doubt writing their apologies right now. Will make good reading.

Nonetheless, a pathetic fade out. Very demoralizing for the loyal supporters.

I concur
You can only build good team by drafting talented kids . From 2011 to 2016 we were really crap at this ( concessions to gws and Gc in these years probably didn't help)
Once you've got some good kids you can try to buy in some talent , but you can't cut too many corners and we have surely done this .
Picking up a good mid fielder in crouch was okay but we should have used our other picks on the best available kids .
Occassionly you might get lucky and get a bargain but at least you don't end up with too many hacks who have simply come for the paycheck .
we have got a decent roster of under 25s . So hopefully a bunch of talented kids will be added at seasons end .
And next year wont be such a disaster.
