Is Billings gone?
Performance down this year... Going through the motions. No contract news... Sounds like his exit is a done deal.
What a shame. To lose someone like him and have Hanneberry and a few other list cloggers on long term Richo agreements.

I wouldn’t have thought so
Started the year really well. Looks to me like he’s playing injured

I'd imagine he'd want to stay, but wouldn't begrudge him if he got offered 700K+ elsewhere and decided to walk. I'm not sure I'd match anything above 650K. Not that I've got the cash.

Lost me on the first sentence, at this stage of the season is certainly Top 5 if not Top 3.axcellence wrote: ↑Sat 12 Jun 2021 5:36pm Performance down this year... Going through the motions. No contract news... Sounds like his exit is a done deal.

Although he usually waits to sign, I'll agree if another club were to offer $750K+ and he does not value staying one club for say $700K on a long term deal, then good luck to him.

Why not start a thread for the sake of starting a thread? Then display your complete lack of footy knowledge by stating things that are way off target and patently wrong.

There’s probably another dozen who appear to be going through the motions, I think Jack is battling through an injury or twoaxcellence wrote: ↑Sat 12 Jun 2021 5:36pm Performance down this year... Going through the motions. No contract news... Sounds like his exit is a done deal.

Re: Is Billings gone?
Firstly
WTF has Alan Richardson have to do with list management. I think Simon Lethlean and the list management team and the doctors are to accept the blame/responsibility for signing DH
Secondly
Billings is averaging 22ppg and a goal a game
All his numbers are up on career averages
HTF is he going through the motions?!

Re: Is Billings gone?
Has been one of the few to really shine this year. One of our better players
As others have said will be a real shame to lose billings whilst we still have the likes on Hannebery on our list
Even if he does net us a top 10 pick (absolutely best case) how likely are we to pick a player that is equally as good let alone better
We stink, our development stinks and our recruiting stinks

Re: Is Billings gone?
So true MC, yet some believe purging ourselves of Billings will be our salvation. Go figure, not one part of that logic adds up, more so for a player who is a RFA.MC Gusto wrote: ↑Sat 12 Jun 2021 7:50pm Has been one of the few to really shine this year. One of our better players

Re: Is Billings gone?
That's the conundrum skeptic, we have no say, the Club's hands are tied, the player pretty much has no say nor does the club who gets him have a say in what we get.
Only the AFL's magical formula has a say. So a moot point.

2 questions
1 why the hell would he want to stay and
2 who would bloody want him

Re: Is Billings gone?
I rate Billings as the biggest disappointment on our list considering what we drafted him for. Has played 6-7 seasons, has only once finished in top 5 of B&F once or twice, generally inconsistent with goal kicking and when we need someone to stand up it’s rarely him who does it. Tonight’s game a prime example.
He’s on ridiculous money considering his output

Re: Is Billings gone?
Let’s accept the pick 20 odd (as great list management)
And that player turn out to be as good as Ben Long
Great strategy!
Get rid of good players, yep great tactic

Re: Is Billings gone?
Yep, we are a much better side without him. I concede to the experts. Get rid of Billings, keep Lonie and draft more like him. Order the champagne now, surely this can't go wrong.

Re: Is Billings gone?
I simply cannot believe some posters in this thread about how much they pump Billings' worth and ego. Please watch tonight's game objectively and WITHOUT rose coloured glasses on. He was very poor tonight. No leadership, no toughness, no X factor at all. He regularly goes missing when it matters.

Re: Is Billings gone?
Oh SK, you've been building to this, wishing for this for 5 years now. You must be feeling pretty chuffed. If JB still has a Top 5 B&F finish is he still the one to be jettisoned? Is he still the player holding us back?saintkid wrote: ↑Sat 12 Jun 2021 11:22pm I simply cannot believe some posters in this thread about how much they pump Billings' worth and ego. Leadership would be determined by his team mates I'm guessing and they believe he has it.
Toughness, well that's subjective but I do not recall him shirking an issue or squibbing a contest. Perhaps enlighten me on toughness.
Oh & what the fvck has X factor got to do with anything? What is it? & who else has it?
Tonight was a pitiful effort against a bottom side but a club with pride. I think the answer is there not in our better players who didn’t have their best game.

He's the only one you question? Feel free to ask that of 21 others. Clark, quite rightly, gets a pass.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Sat 12 Jun 2021 11:39pm I'm not saying he is not a required player but WTF was that tonight
